It's a better school?
Better will be decided as the games are played. Being an ND fan you should know all about underperforming, highly rated, recruits .
Besides, recruit rankings are mostly subjective.
"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. I'm not too sure about the former." - Albert Einstein
Paragraphs 1 and 2 are self-evident. If you don't comprehend them you suffer from any combination of:
Lack of critical thinking skills;
inability to be intellectually honest;
As to the 3rd paragraph. MSU was founded as the pioneer Land Grant college. A college built from the ground up to be a college of the people. There are MSU extensions in virtually every county in Michigan extending the knowledge and research in a variety of academic areas to where the people of Michigan work and live. See:
Also, the University of Michigan violently opposed the military in the Vietnam war and ROTC programs on campus. There were numerous violent acts by University of Michigan against our military - including setting fire and damaging ROTC buildings, occupying protests etc.
In contrast, MSU has always had a relatively cordial relationship with the people who serve our country and put their lives on the line for our freedoms. This includes the fact that military quonset huts were stationed on campus where the Breslin Center now stands until the late 70's and early 80s.
Also witness the fact that Mark Hollis honored our military by proposing and helping produce the carrier classic and is going to play Connecticut in Rammstein AFB in Germany this fall. Our support of the military is black and white compare to UMAA.
Additionally, because MSU overwhelmingly educates people from the state of Michigan, and UMAA seems to take pure delight in educating other people outside the state - this fact - on top of the others listed here demonstrate MSU's commitment to the state in contrast to UMAA.
Lastly, if you did not go to college or went to another college besides UMAA and support them - my suggestion that MSU shares values with those people more is a reflection of reality given the facts I've laid out. These are not the words of hatred toward UMAA but of reality and pride of being a Michigan State Alumni.
I'll give you that.
I'm sorry I just can't wrap my head around certain fanbases. Being an MSU fan and talking shit? How is that possible?
MSU will never come close to winning a title in our lifetime. Surely MSU fans know this? Big Ten title every decade and a half? Sure. But anything beyond that is simply not realistic. MSU (like Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois) is a spring board school to a better job somewhere else in the country.
I just can't fathom talking shit the way MSU fans do on this site. Even on Rivals and Scout they're smart enough to keep their collective mouths shut. It is baffling to say the least.
Gringo Mafia Sergeant at Arms - 5 time POTW
There's 3 months left in the season. I'd say that cream has already risen on MSU's recruiting class. The best is probably not yet to come for you. Unless you actually count walk ons and 1-2 stars.
I don't think that anyone here is arguing against that. At least I'm not. It's perfectly justified in those cases.
So, you're just forgetting the Weiss years? Convenient. Talk about doing very little with 4 and 5 star talent...
Bro - since MSU and ND re-started the series back in 1997, ND is 6-10 against MSU.
Notre Dame is having it's first truly good year in a generation and now you're drunk with power?
And let's not talk about leather helmet football when the game resembled rugby and incomplete forward passes were ruled turnovers.
Humility goes both ways.
What about the Weis years? I'm lost here.
Are you changing the subject on purpose or don't want to face reality?
It's easy, we can talk shit when we win. There it is, and we have done good that last few years.
We could say the same thing about ND. Watch...
How could you be a ND fan and talk shit, I just don't understand. ND has not even gotten close to any championship since I was born over 20 years ago. I have never seen them play a meaningful game in my life. As a State fan the non-conference is just like a preseason game for the real season, I can't imagine if my school just played preseason games all year! All I have to look forward to is a new coach every four years. ND is just a spring board to, well getting fired.
Or how about USC.
I can't imagine being a USC fan. Having all of those great wins, all of those great teams and knowing they were all a sham! They have won everything, yet they have won nothing! I can not imagine what that must be like to have all that success and realize it is so fake.
Really not that hard.
Michigan State University is the university of Michigan
A person gets out of an education what they put into it. A graduate of any Big Ten University is well-educated if they put in the time and effort to become so.
Being a piece of shit also takes time and effort. Congratulations on your success.
"If you want to be the Man, then you have got to BE the Man." -- CA Sparty's Dad
Ok but what about other than your 6-10 record against ND?
How do you respond to all of the other points I made?
Your first paragraph posed a question, which I answered. To say that your post was "self-evident" is simply indicative of an inability to respond to my answers. The intelligent move would've been to try to disprove/invalidate my answers, but you chose the tried-and-true "Nuh-uh, I was right!" method. Good for you.
Your second paragraph was a hodgepodge of sweeping generalizations, emotional insecurity, and a bitter inferiority complex. The only thing self-evident in that mass of idiocy is that you revel in your perceived persecution.
As for your military position - notwithstanding the fact that Michigan has a long history of postwar veterans admissions (from early admissions of civil war veterans in 1866 to Michigan's 1950 class, more than a third of whom were WWII veterans on the GI Bill), Michigan has long been a pioneer in military research, from Naval hardware, to radar equipment, to nuclear technologies.
Finally, your conflation of opposition to the Vietnam War with opposition to our military is disgusting and ill-informed. Members of the Michigan community opposed the needless slaughter of American soldiers in Vietnam, and demonstrated this opposition in many ways. The fact that you think that wanting to bring our troops home is the same thing as acting violently "against our military" is sick - if anything, these protesters wanted to prevent the North Vietnamese from acting violently against our military.
Then I suppose you could argue overall history. And I win 10 out of 10 times. I love how people like to only go back to early 90's. Like the previous 100 years didn't count or something.
ND and USC recruit nationally also. Bigger fanbases. More national coverage. As far as history goes putting MSU in the same sentence as Michigan, ND, USC??
You should be ashamed of yourself.
I'm not changing the subject, I responded to your post. How many ND players were rated highly out of high school and didn't develop over their career? I'm not talking about this year.
I'll admit that ND is definitely a better team than MSU this year, no argument there. I'm just saying that recruiting rankings are not a guaranteed indicator of which players end up being better over their career.
Eh, I'm not the one calling other people pieces of shit, but hey, that type of argument and rhetoric just screams "classy."
It amuses me that all the name-calling in this thread is coming from the same people saying I'm the piece of shit. Solid logic, bro.
Your inability to wrap your head around any concept whatsoever is not surprising in the slightest. You don't have to apologize.
The fact is: most Spartans don't bother to talk shit. We leave that to bizarrely arrogant "fans" of schools that routinely underperform expectations despite numerous built-in advantages. It's cool. Please continue.
We have won 7 national titles in the last 60 years.
The point is you are on a message board trying to convince State fans they are wrong in liking their team. What are the odds I convince you not to be a ND fan today? I would bet very small.
Go learn to play the guitar or something.
Dude, seriously? Do you read tRCMB?
You didn't respond to any of the points I made at all. Right away you tried to shift the conversation. ^^^You're doing it here to.
And yes, recruiting rankings actually are a pretty good indicator of which players would be better or a site like 247 wouldn't even exist?
I don't know man, Alabama's string of top-3 recruiting classes really didn't get them anything, I don't think recruiting rankings matter at all.
You called yourself a piece of shit in the post to which I responded. I merely congratulated you on your accomplishment. Strange how a supposedly "well-educated" person fails to perceive that. Perhaps you aren't quite as smart as you think you are.
There's nothing classy in the slightest about your posts in this thread (a thread I'll just mention is nothing but an extended attack on MSU), but keep telling yourself whatever you need to tell yourself. Your bandwagon UofM fandom speaks volumes about your character and class.
There has been absolutely no coaching consistency since Holtz. That's why we've been mediocre since mid 90's.
Riddle me this. I went onto tRCMB and started a topic asking if MSU was a football or basketball school. I swear it was an honest question I didn't know. I woke up the next morning to the tune of -120 downvotes. Seriously what is wrong with your fanbase?
