I'm curious if anyone else looks at the roster and just has a name jump out to them as a kid who could be a breakout player even though they haven't really seen the field yet. Incoming Freshman should be excluded since some of them have hype. I'm talking about 2nd, 3rd, 4th year guys who haven't been heard from yet.
My pick is Kenny Wilkins. Nothing I've read or heard have made it sound like he'll contribute this year and he hasn't yet seen game action in his 2 years on campus, but for some reason I see his name and think we hear a lot from him this year. He had major athleticism coming out of high school (4.6-4.7 forty, 31+ inch vertical, 385lb bench press) and was around 240lbs. From the newly released roster, he's 6-3, 294lbs and plays a position (3-tech DT) where we don't have a lot of depth. The coaches are going to need to rotate the DL a lot, and with Jibreel on the small side, I wonder if Kenny makes a jump this year.

Im going to go with Ricardo Miller. We are a huge ? at TE. I think he will have some receptions this season.
I thought he was moving back to WR
I'm going with Richard Ash, just because.
In one of the pressers this week, the coaches said he will split time between WR and TE...
EDIT: They were talking about the U-Back...

Can I say Gordon? If I can then I think he will have a breakout season.

Oh, not seen the field much yet.
Devin Gardner the WR
Thinking of breakout players, who don't have much hype, I'm thinking Nathan Brink. You simply haven't heard much of him lately, but he had pretty glowing reports coming out of fall camp last year. Since Fort Schembechler is back, I don't know if we hear many reports this year, but we'll see.
Another player that I think will contribute is Brandon Hawthorne. This kid wants back on the field bad...so much so that he asked the coaches in the spring to get time at the MIKE, and albeit a limited sample, I thought he did well in the spring game. I think he will try every LB position to try to get on the field. If you remember early last year, he made some big plays, and then lost his opportunity to get back on the field coming off of an injury because Morgan shored up the starting spot.
Dizzo said players that don't have much hype. Gardner has a boat load of hype at WR.
I will see your guys Wilkins and Ash, and raise you a Washington.

boo, i still want Gardner to be Anquan Bolden
Either way we need someone to catch the damn ball this year, and I think he will have some pt and a few receptions for us and noone is talking about him.
Jeremy Gallon. I think Denard's improved grasp of Borges' offense, Roundtree's return to form on the outside, and the introduction of some big receivers for defenses to watch out for (Jerald Robinson, Darboh, Chesson) will allow Gallon to have a hell of a year in the slot.
Well he has seen the field plenty, but a cannot agree more. He is going to have a great season. He is a tough little shit
Of the three DTs mentioned, i'd go with Ash. He showed a little bit in the spring game. But Black's move tells me all i need to know about those guys.
With Gallon moving to flanker, I think Dileo really shines out of the slot. The coaches love him, and he seems like a very retalent.
I could see 30+ catches, and developing into a not-quite danny coale.
Danny Coale comparison, eh? YOU'RE JUST SAYING THAT BECAUSE HE'S WHITE!
If i had to pick who I want to have a break out year it would be Roy Roundtree on offense and BWC on defense. We need both of these guys to step up.
This. Good call
Came in to say Washington. This is getting creepy.
Drew Dileo, great answer guys!
