Did he not clearly benefit from PSU's scandal? What about all of the state of Ohio recruits who Fickel ignored but Urban was able to flip, like Dodson? Let's not be naive, what he accomplished was impressive but he definitely had MANY factors in his favor. Also, the Urban F. Meyer crap might be the most moronic concept ever. Brady F. Hoke, how does that sound?
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
Did you not benefit from the Penn St coach leaving and getting Trey Burke? You got a player or 2 from the football team too. Sweet argument. Fickel was in over his head being the hc in general let alone going out and recruiting. I'd rather eat poop than call him UM. And wouldnt it be BFH? Calm down sir

Yeah, I stick with my comment, 'MOST'. I think any rational evaluation of the OSU OL bench says they have issues, and need at least four in the 2014 class just not to sink to below average.
I remember last year Buckeye fans telling me that 2012 wasn't a big deal since it was his first year, wait until 2013. Now I am hearing the same thing again.
As for who the staff was going hard after...if anything, that should make you MORE, not less, worried. Considering they are already talking about moving Price and Munger to OL, you would think the staff would have been pushing harder for OLs.
Yes, we benefitted from the PSU coach leaving and adding Trey Burke, the difference is that we recognize that. Most OSU fans fail to see that Urban had some help recruiting because of the scandal and Fickell's incompetence, they just blindly follow Urban and sing his praise. I'm calm I just think that the UfM reference is idiotic, what is he Chuck Norris?
I'm quite sure Burke decommitted before DeChellis left.
Just like all you guys saying our OL was going to be terrible last year. Do you really think we're not going to have a good OL in years to come? I mean really. Urban and his staff know what theyre doing. And our OL coach is the bees knees. No OL concerns here
Haha, no he isnt Chuck Norris. He is considered a top 2 ELITE coach though so there is alot to be excited about. I definately have a man crush on him.
Yes i agree that disgusting psu cover up helped with a few recruits but so what? They had 119 other schools to choose from. I find the "Ohio" reference idiotic so we're even
Could of sworn i saw on BTN them saying that's what led to Burke leaving. My bad
He gained some, lost some. Kyle Kalis for one. By the time Urban took over, former OSU-commit (or was he just a lean? I don't remember) Kyle Kalis was long gone. The entire year under Fickell, OSU was a recruiting trainwreck Meyer had to try to right in 2 months. I'm amazed he produced the class he did last year given that.
I also think Meyer gets too much credit, and too much blame for recruiting. He IS the closer, but other than Decker, Ed Warinner has done essentially nothing when it comes to OL recruiting except cash in on the easy gets (Lisle, Elflein, Boren). Great coach, not much of a recruiter from what I can tell thus far. Look at OSU defensive recruiting--Meyer doesn't specialize there, and yet we've had two back to back monster defensive classes. What that says is that it's less Meyer, more Withers, Vrabel, Coombs and Fickell. On offense, I don't feel it's Meyer that's falling short so much as it's likely Herman and Warinner.

Exactly we are fine with OL in 2013 none of the Fr would start anyways but in 2014 we will have some spots and im 100% sure we get some more Good 14 OL prospects.
We will see how Hoke and Meyer stack up when all the players are their recruits and my $ is UM>hoke
You are fine at OL...as long as you don't have any injuries.
If Fragel can play tackle why can't Some of our other converts Baldwin etc.. Step in if needed? We have players and OL is not a huge priority to our staff for the 13 class.
If we're talkin injuries any team at any position can be hurt.
Id be more concerned with mich QBs actually performing well vrs a good deffense
lolz to you saying i would rather eat poop. Made me think of step brothers instantly.
I love that movie.
Are yall really on page 62 discussing our OL? WTF
Well, over half the posts are from your fanbase complaining about this thread, so...
No...we're discussing the lack there of.
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
So is this The Rant?
Our OL looked pretty good to me
It will take a toll eventually...starting next year. Trust us UM fans...we know first hand.
I don't think anyone on here expected this thread to go this long. But then Meyer whiffed on another, and another, and then whiffed on the entire cycle. Says more about hot bad you're OL recruiting was to me. The thread goes on until Meyer isn't left with scraps.
Pretty much, though most of the ranting seems to be by Buckeye fans.
No. We're on page 62 (now 63) discussing your lack of OL.
