Who do you guys think if the most important part of our D next year?
Borges, he can single-handedly stop our offense.
Considering our defensive MVP from last year (IMO) is coming back, I'll say Jake Ryan takes another step forward and cements himself as the best player on our defense.
Washington, Morgan, Ross, and Gordon all play very well. One of the freshmen DL (my pick is Wormley) makes a big impact.
Not sure how to quantify who is most "important" and who that may be, but the most productive will be Jake Ryan....no doubt.
Going out on a limb and say Joe Bolden.
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
Countess. Hopefully, because that would mean he is 100%.
I think it'll be Jake Ryan, I want it to be Mario Ojemudia, because we NEED a great pass-rushing DE.
While Ryan is the easy choice, I'm going to say the most important would be the 4 guys in our secondary. Losing Kovacs and unsure what the status of Countess is, whoever is going to be back there needs to come up big. I have confidence our DL/LB's are already headed in the right direction, I just want to see some hats flying around making plays.
Jake Ryan - if he continues on the trajectory he's been on it won't be close. The guys that will be close are Bolden, James Ross and Pipkins. Countess could have a big year if he's able to get back to where he was (which given the injury isn't a sure thing).

Early favorite: Jake Ryan
Other candidates: Blake Countess, Frank Clark
Dark Horses: James Ross III, Dymonte Thomas
I say your deff cord is a beast and none of your players are that good but if I had to pick one I would say Ryan
That is such a valuable contribution to this board. I am so glad you took the time to say that. Thank you so much for making me a more educated football viewer. You must feel awesome and special for saying that. This board is so much better because of you.
Truth hurts Mattison is MVP
Ducks worth your my favorite mich poster also
Don't get upset Ducks. It will be that much more enjoyable with them learning just how talented Michigans youngsters are.
Ryan's the MVP at this point, hands down, but Countess, Ross, Ojemudia, Wilson, Taylor, Bolden, are all potential All-B1G performers with game experience and three years of eligibility left.
I'd prefer they be blissfully ignorant before seeing this defense on the field.
I agree, with all the star potential on D its hard to pick just one
Nobody has mentioned him, so I will. I'm a big fan of Raymon Taylor, I thought he played great all year in a role he was not necessarily expecting. I think he will build off the confidence he picked up last year and really excel. There's also a lot less pressure on him now that Countess is back IMO.
My other two are Ryan and Clark, but those are obvious choices. My super dark horse is Mario Ojemudia. Kid works hard, he'll no doubt show some refined aspects of his game next season.
There are way too many playmakers on this D...it's impossible to decide.
No, this is actually a great point, and is very valid. Mattison has been the MVP lately, and thats the intriguing aspect here. I cant wait until we actually get ballerz on the defense he actually recruited so Mattison can be even more of an MVP....that shit is gonna be bananas
Please let me know what a deff cord is ? Defensive has one (f) , Coordinator has three o's, two following the capital C.
You meant to say that Coach Mattison can't hear any more ?
And in his followup he wrote your instead of you're, left a "the" out of his second sentence and put a space in Ducksworth's name. We must be dealing with somebody from that toilet bowl down south if that's the way he writes the English language.
Grammar police lol
How about you knew what I was sayin and I don't care about spelling , etc... It's a MSG board not a English class
I hope its pipkins. If it is, we will have a great season, simple is that.
A premiere corner like countess would have shined this year. Plays by cornerbacks shine a little brighter too. Ilk go with blake, even though ryan is an obviously good choice
True freshman Henry Poggi.
Edit: I'm drunk.
