take at 23? I would like to take Jenkins but kust not sure about his character. Being said i think we go lb first or ol depending whos there. I really like kuechley from bc hope hes there.
I want JJ, but I starting to doubt that we will take him. Luke won’t fall that far. I’m praying that Jonathan Martin from Stanford falls.
Yea i like Martin also but i figire if decastro is gone by the time Dallas is up they might take Martin if they dont take Barron
This. Kiper had Martin to Detroit in his most recent mock, I believe. The thought of him being there is almost too good to think about.
Hightower, Martin, Upshaw, and Jenkins all look good to me. Chance Kirkpatrick falls as well. Pretty confident that we will be left with a couple talented players to draft at that spot. People always slip. Look at Fairley.
"If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?"
I don’t want Hightower. I like him as a player, but he’s not quick enough to play MLB in a 4-3. Doubt we would take him anyways because we just resigned Tulloch.
The best corner back available. Or the best LB available.

I want a defensive end unless Martin or some stud who magically dropped in draft is available. KVB is aging and the future is unclear about Avril. We need to see more of LoJax before we pencil him in as a future force. We cannot forget what the identity of the Lions is: defensive line. Second pick I want a CB or an elite guard or center if available. RG Peterman, LT Backus and C Raiola are getting old and beat up. Can't ignore that need anymore. BPA can only be followed for so long.
Check out my 2 deep of UM's base 4-3 under defense, let me know your thoughts. Last updated: 3/28/12
If Nick Perry fell that far, he would be a nice pick. Local kid, and could fit BPA depending on who else is still there.
I would love for Perry to be there pick 23. Mercilus is growing on me. He had a great season against a bunch of BIG TEN Olineman.
Just read that jj was still smoking at North Alabama. Highly doubt we take him now.
Another guy who will probably fall is Donte Paige-Moss, DE from UNC. Has some character and injury red flags but if he's there in 4th round and we missed on DEs in first three rounds, I say ya gamble.
I still don’t want Mercilus. I don’t like one year wonders unless they are unbelievable talents like Fairley was last year.
I would love that pick. To get a guy that before the season was being projected a top 10-15 pick in the 4th round would be a steal. Definitely has character issues and is coming off a torn ACL IIRC but is worth the gamble that late.
Best answer in a thread full of questionable answers.
I hear ya but the more Jason Pierre-Paul comparisons I hear, the more I want him.
Mercilus isn't JPP.
I'm aware of that but mercilus is an athletic DE, and if he had more than one season of production-- people wouldn't be doggin him.
But he does only have one season of production................. A lot of prospects would be better if it weren't for an IF or two.
He led the entire NCAA in sacks with 16. It may only be one year, but that's off the charts production. I doubt he's even around at 23rd pick.
Good, let someone else take him. He is overrated.
Hmmm I guess I just don't see the "overrated" label with a late first round pass rusher.
When your top-2 draft picks from the year before both got arrested for weed possession, you do NOT draft a kid known for having a weed problem with your top pick this year. Would cause too much bad publicity for the team, and give you a high risk player.
They need to go best available. Somebody is going to fall that is expected in the top-20, and they should take them. Maybe Kirkpatrick, maybe Melvin Ingram, maybe one of the OTs or Decastro.
I know that, that’s why I think we are not going to pick him now but you never know. Ingram and Decastro are going to be top 15 picks, and if we don’t pick JJ because of a weed problem we are not going to take Dre with a weed problem. Hopefully either Glenn, Martin, or Perry falls. I wouldn’t mind Barron but I think it’s too high for Gilmore who I have seen mocked to us a couple times. Would rather have Dennard or Robinson from UCF in the 2nd.
