based on which Spring Game he attends since we both play at the same time. Last I heard he hasn't decided which one he's attending. I would think whichever it is would be a good indication for them leading at that point anyway. With OSU's game being played in Cincinnati the travel time isn't that different than AA.
I'm just closing my eyes and waiting til Berger commits somewhere at this point.
While it may be telling which Spring Game he attends, there's still a lot that can happen. He might come to our spring game because he's thinking of committing to OSU and wants to be 100% positive that, even after attending one of our biggest recruiting events, OSU is still the place for him. He might go to OSU's spring game because he has them as his 51/49 leader at that point, but the spring game doesn't live up to his expectations, whereas he attends a Michigan practice several days before and has a better time there.
If I had to choose one side, I would say the spring game choice is indicative of where he will commit, but there is so much that can happen.
So long as Michigan ends up with either Kyle Berger or Sam Hubbard, I'll be happy.
My preference is for Hubbard.

Is Hubbard the kid that had committed to ND for Lacrosse but is now blowing up for football? I only ask because there are a couple "Hubbard" guys on the trail this year.
I know the 6'6" Hubbard that is a safety (?) is visiting OSU soon, not sure if the same one or not.
as for Berger, I think he's really torn between the two of us, so I'm not getting all keyed up if he does commit to OSU in a month because it's so far from signing day who knows what will happen. Wherever he commits, the other coach surely isn't going to give up on him, so it'll be a long battle.
too many fans (OSU) get way too excited/depressed over recruits this time of year. Talking about 17 year olds, hell I changed girlfriends every other week in HS, not a shocker these guys are mixed up making a decision this big. I get psyched up in mid January til signing day. Wastes way too much time worrying what a kid will do 11 months from now. I look at it like whoever we get, if the coach wanted them (offered them) then I'm happy with 'em.
Clearly we should pay close attention to that color socks he has been wearing as well
I saw him buying a shake and he asked for a red straw instead of a blue one. I think we should move on.
According to 11w he's already decided to go to the OSU spring game. Guess we should just give up now
read on 11warriors that he's attending osu's spring game instead of ours. like others have said, not necessarily indicative of anything, but i'd rather him be at michigan's spring game. i bet he ends up a buckeye whenever he commits this spring. and as far as hubbard goes, he seems athletic and a good talent, but let's not kid ourselves. potentially losing out on berger hurts. he was the #1 LB priority on our board, and if we lost him to osu, it would be even more of a bummer. let's not start with the, actually i'd prefer so and so. that sounds like distancing ourselves from berger so if he commits elsewhere, we can take the 'eh, i didn't really want him anyway' direction. greg mattison and brady hoke really want this guy, so i do too
It isn't over yet, and I would like to think that the #1 LB on the board is already committed, Ferns.
Frank c breaks down film well and always has an opinion, and generally his opinion mever changes. If he feels hubbard is a better player, then I guarantee has a whole page of reasons why.
Also, this was posted way after the 11w article came out. Its an attempt to troll since he knew which game berger was attending....cmon guys.
Sorry robo, I like you, but I call it like I see it.
I agree with this.
I like Berger and I would like to see him come to Michigan. But I just watched Sam Hubbard highlights for the first time yesterday and was VERY impressed. More so than I was on Bergers film. The only thing is that Hubbard was playing safety the whole time and not line backer...If I had to choose one I would choose Hubbard too based on highlight tape. My only concern is Hubbard is a safety at high school and had no plays at line backer so he will prolly have to learn a whole new position
I only read Bucknuts, and the last article I saw was he hadn't decided, so I wasn't trying to troll.
Like I said, I don't take a commitment in march-July as gospel anyway. Way too much time until NSD. I know his original plan was to make his choice by end of May, but that was before his 3 or so visits to your place, so I don't know if that's still the plan or if he'll push it back. If he's not sure, I hope he pushes it back and just makes a final decision and sticks with it. I would like him in S&G, but wherever he chooses I hope he only does it once. (Unless it's for you guys....haha)
If it's the same Hubbard I'm thinking of, do you think he may end up at DE? The kid is 6'6". Would be the talles safety I've ever seen. With that frame I would think he could get to 250+ easily and make a pretty good athletic rush end.
I don't think our staff wants him as a DE. We are already in on a lot of top DE. for 6'6" though the kid is VERY athletic and looks very fast on film as well. He uses his length as well as I have seen any player that tall. I actually like him a lot as a safety. IDC what position he plays but I want him on Michigan. He did say if he had to choose a leader as of now it would be OSU though

I think he's just blown away by all the attention he's getting for football right now, head spinning. He was a Lacrosse recruit then in a matter of a month he's got all these football offers coming in. Pretty cool for the kid.
I just went to BN and looked for a thread on Berger, and yes, there was one that said he is attending OSU spring game, it was on bottom of page 3, so I honestly hadn't seen it. Within that thread, it was still said by a 2nd staff member that Berger had told him he "wanted" to go to OSU's but still hadn't confirmed because it's in Cinci and that made it more difficult (not sure what an extra hour down I 71 does to make it that difficult). So, one staffer says he's coming, one says not confirmed. Just wanted to own up to it was out there although I hadn't seen it.
Still not set in stone that Berger is attending OSU spring game.
If that were true, then why did our coaches wait until late January/early February to offer Berger? Other linebackers were offered before he was.
Look, Berger is a very nice prospect but he's far from a "must get". I like Chase Winovich as much or more than him.

Berger is definitely Michigan's top priority at linebacker right now; it's irrelevant when they offered him.
OSU folk highly confident on both Berger and Hubbard now. I know Hubbard will be back at OSU in a week or 2. Itll be hard to pull Hubbard away from ND also. Hubbard also has a sister who attends OSU.

Steve, I have no doubt that is what our coaches are telling Berger now (and it's probably true) but that doesn't change the fact that they waited a while to offer him knowing full well that OSU had been recruiting him very hard for months already. If they viewed Berger as a program changing type of recruit, they would've offered him much sooner than they did. Jmho.

Program changing recruit is a pretty strong stance.
These are the 2014 LBs offered before Berger. They are all highly coveted and the only ones showing real interest in Michigan are Ferns (committed) and Berger.
So by this logic OSU might as well give up recruiting Drake Harris.
Berger is the much better prospect then Hubbard imo. Hubbard has a ton of holes in his game right now.
