you know why, because they lost, thats why they're cryin about it, using it as an excuse.
I would love it if MSU and OSU actually started to dislike each other, so far I always got the sense that MSU is Ohio State University - East Lansing, like when they played each other it was like "yeah we have to play each other but don't we really just hate Michigan?"
Osu ,that I see, always throws shade at MSU with the Sparty and Lil Bro references. LoL
Wasn't there the situation two or three years ago, where MSU needed us to beat OSU to get a share of the Big Ten title for sure or win it outright but they said they'd cheer for OSU anyway?
you cant see the entire field when watching the game on tv. the camera only follows the ball

For the record, I don't think that Meyer is any different from the vast majority of BCS coaches in terms of adhering to the rules, so I'm not saying he's a snake or a cheater.
I don't know exactly what happened here, but if Michigan State's allegations are true, then that's pretty shady on Ohio State's part. Even if the Buckeyes corrected it immediately when MSU brought it up (as OSU would have been required to do), it still shouldn't have happened in the first place. Even if Ohio State eventually corrected it, that still really hampers MSU's ability to prepare for the game. Again, I don't think any outside parties know exactly what happened at this point because of the conflicting reports on both sides, but if the allegations are true, then I do have a problem with what Ohio State did in this situation.
It does sound like Urban pulled a fast one but unless you complain about it before the game you just sound like a baby IMO.

how can you comply? the damage has been done. the game is over. its not like you can send them an unedited version of the tapes and have a rematch. The thing that shows me how shady they are is that the other tapes ohio sent out to the other teams they played didn't have the shifts and motions cut out. they only cut them out for msu.
I would think the schools could afford Directv with a DVR and record their own game films....With the BIG network, ESPN, ABC and regional sports channels most games are broadcast.....Then, if you have your priorities in order, you are watching that film on Sunday morning instead of waiting for film to get to you and then complain that it doesn't show everything....
I think it's dumb to have to give film to the opponent anyway....let's go back to the days of Woody and Bo and send in the spies!!!!
I think when Tressel and Dantonio were coaching it did seem like a bit of a "family" game.....Now that Dantonio doesn't like Urban it should get a bit more heated...which I like....I couldn't stand Tressel calling off the dogs in games just to let teams back in them and we pull out a nail biter....Urban won't make any friends in the BIG, but that's not his job.
My point is that they had access to the full film. Albeit from other teams.
This is just something that otherwise (meaning if OSU had lost) would have been forgotten about.
And, secondary violations are hardly indicative of a dirty program. The rule book is ridiculous. After I had stopped working for the team, I still had a lot of behind the scenes access with the program. A couple of times recruits would ask me questions, "How is it at FIU?", so on and so forth. Then a conversation would break out. One time I recognized a kid we were recruiting and during one of these conversations simply mentioned that he would be a good fit at FIU. A compliance officer overheard, then told me I could be in violation of some stupid rule. Point is, these things happen.
tOSU self reports more secondary violations than any other school. Something to be proud of? Certainly not. But after working on the inside, I have a better appreciation for how easy it is to fall out of compliance.
TV cameras don't cover nearly as much of the field as the actual game film does. A TV copy of a game would be nearly useless for game planning purposes.
It's just part of what makes Urbz so likeable.
True, Michigan State did eventually attain full access to the full film, but there was at least some sort of lag period there that hampered their preparation for the game (again, IF these allegations are true). Maybe the lag period was three hours, or maybe it was two or three days. Regardless, that would have given Ohio State at least somewhat of an advantage in preparing for the game. If this is true, I do think Michigan State had every right to report it, and that it's not just something to sweep under the rug.
Edit: Sorry I meant to quote the replier stating there were 42 violations, (point in fact there were 46 violations in 21 sports)
No, there were 42 violations in ALL of Ohio States programs. Not the football program. To my knowledge, Meyer has personally had ONE violation at OSU and that was wishing Noah Spence "Good Luck" at his high school game. other violations occured under the previous regime and the small handfull of those include using smokeless tobacco..

I completely agree Todd. I would have a problem with that too but we obviously don't have the full story and I have to say I find it highly unlikely that Urban himself is involved in the creation of these videos.. I mean it's possible but I wouldn't go creating conspiracy threads about it, just makes people look like blind fanatics which isn't what I've experienced UM fans to be until the season (and unsatisfying results) got underway

A lot of people are saying its no big deal. Ohio must have thought it was if they took the time chop up games worth of tape.
I'm calling it shady.

None on the football program? I remember a certain Gene Smith, Archie Griffin taped recruiting pitch played for one of your running back recruits, Ezekiel?.
That is a violation, and I believe running backs play football?
Your coach is a sleaze, and so is the coach at USC. The thing that I find mind boggling is that both of these schools were on or beginning NCAA probationary terms from slimy previous regimes.
What do they do, find the most shady replacement they can.
Two, three years from now they will wonder why their programs are back in the scope of the NCAA for infractions that aren't that big of deal, houses, cars, tattoos, etc.
You don't want it to be a distraction before the game. I'm sure the result of the game had some coaches pissed off so it probably came out in a way it shouldn't have. I'm guessing win or lose it would have come out after the game though as well it should if true.
I shake my head at some of the comments. I understand the sentiment and the bias, but I still shake my head.
I'm pretty sure I never said there were none. In fact my post, if you read it, specifically mentions there were violations. The point of the thread is how dirty Meyer is. I even mention his violation at OSU. If you would like to continue that conversation I'd be interested but from your comments, I don't get it. Are you trolling me on your own board?
All I got were more and more excuses. "Urban probably had nothing to do with it", "previous regime", "smokeless tobacco", all come off as, who really cares, or not his fault.
The taped recruiting pitch from your AD, and football icon was pretty shady IMO.
Now your staff is cutting up tape, and the fan base thinks you get that kind of film on the DVR.
What does the Ohio fan base think is a terrible violation?
I was pretty upset when we got dinged for over practicing.
THIS would be a bad one if it's true, as bad as overpracticing from a sportsmanship perspective but certainly not equal in the NCAA realm with their pretend focus on students (but there are a number of variables that are just flat out unknown, can anyone refer me to the rules section of the BIG that mandates sending video?, 11w's seems to question it).
The AD is a bad one too and I dont know how Gene smith doesn't know better but it's the only one of those "46" that is noteworthy. Tresselgate was obviously terrible (but in the spirit of Civil Disobedience I blame tressel for lying, not the students who sold their own property like any other person would be allowed to do)
As for my "excuses," sorry if i was providing context to someone who thought Meyer personally committed 42 secondary violations when he got on campus, when in fact he was responsible for one. The rivalry is very serious to me, but I can't respect it if I can't take the fanbase seriously
I guess we are still at 1 for the Noah Spence situation?
Urban must have had no idea that his boss and former great at Ohio were sending one of his recruits a taped pitch for his services at Ohio.
