named third team all-american today by sporting news. Zeller and D'shaun Thomas land on first team. This could be one of the best years for B1G basketball in quite sometime i feel!
D'shaun Thomas is not a better SF than Burke is a PG. Thomas isn't even the best SF in the conference. I don't really understand that one, but ok.
I think the voters are expecting Thomas to blow up this season because they think that Thomas will have to consistently carry Ohio this season.
The preseason All-American teams are partly based on hype. Anyone else remember that the national media crowned Harrison Barnes and some even had him as the pre-season NPoY? He was supposed to be "Carmelo with Kobe's work ethic." (That's a direct quote from Dave Telep who left Scout to join ESPN.)
This year, it's no different. Shabazz Muhammad is on the second team.
* * * N E O . R E T R O * * *
And the forward from UK is on 2nd team too
I assumed you were talking about Noel but it's actually Alex Poythress. Haven't seen him play much but definitely didn't know he was projected to be that good. If he's better than Kyle Anderson from UCLA whose also a SF and a freshman then he must be really good. I love Anderson's game.
And I think Burke being third team, as well as Peyton Siva, is indicative of the really good depth of experienced PG's at the college level. Dixon from Mizzou I don't agree with but McCollum from Lehigh and Canaan from Murray State are both seniors who almost single handedly put their mid major teams on the national level
Yea a lot of these pre-season teams are based on what reporters are hearing from NBA scouts as well. Burke's lack of size and lack of "sizzle" to his game make him a less sexy pick. The fact that he made 3rd team is pretty impressive even. He's one of those guys whose production and importance will always be better than the hype. Just the way I like it.

Yea that's him. Don't they have him at the 4?
Has Baaz even been cleared to play yet?
Like I said I haven't seen much of him but more than likely he'll play the 3. Wiltjer will most likely be the starting power forward. That's just my guess though I don't know for certain.
Speaking of Kentucky it's looking like they'll be landing the #2 and 3 players in the country for 2013 on Thursday when Aaron and Andrew Harrison decide. The rich get richer.
Are we done in'13 or do we have any more spots open?
We likely have spots, but we told Reggie Cameron (just committed to Georgetown) to not bother visiting even though we seemed to be high on his list, so seems like we are done.
That means we will likely need 3 more guys for 2014, even with Hatch reclassifying.
Devin Booker and Keita Bates-Diop
Nah their going to be Terp’s.
I hope so.
Also, what are you hearing about Julius Randle? Is he a strong Kentucky lean?
I wouldn’t say “strong” or even lean at this point but I think most think UK is the favorite for now.
UMD is a much better fit for the twin’s. They will be the focal point of that offense up there. Not sure if they’re games would have meshed with Wiggin’s either.
I'm hoping that at least Jabari Parker (of Simeon HS) or Julius Randle will be part of Duke's 2013 class.
As Michigan fans, we should want Parker to go to Duke because his other top choice is Michigan State. And Parker's recruitment has implications for 2014.
His friend Jahlil Okafor (top ranked C in 2014 who plays for Whitney Young) is expected to decide decide Duke and Michigan State. Moreover, Okafor's decision will affect Tyus Jones (5 star PG in the 2014) who has offers from Duke and Michigan State.
Okafor and Jones have mentioned that they want to play together in college. Package deals rarely come to fruition in college recruiting but many analysts feel that this one can legitimately happen.
Ohio is also a dark horse for both Okafor and Jones.
Get these basketball posts out of here....we need a whole new board please
Thomas is a beast, imo he was OSU's best player last year. Don't care about where Burke is ranked on these preseason lists, We know what type of player he is and he is poised to have a monster season. He has been undervalued his whole entire basketball career and when you watch him play you can tell he plays with a definite chip on his shoulder because of it.
I'm glad that this board is integrated and I hope that it remains integrated.
I've been on enough forums to know that creating sub-forums reduces traffic. Threads that would at least get a glance are ignored because they are (re)located in another sub-forum.
To see a good example of this, just visit Scout's Michigan forum. The basketball and hockey sub-forums pale in comparison to the football sub-forum.
I know that Michigan is a football school and that football will always be king in Ann Arbor. But I'd like Michigan football fans to pay attention to other Michigan sports.
Lastly, keep in mind that it was your choice to enter this thread despite knowing what it would be about. If a thread doesn't interest you, then just ignore it.
How could I refuse to open a thread about Michigan basketball? Also, on those other sites, why do you think that traffic is down for those other sports.....probably because most dont give a
If you don't give a sh!t about Michigan basketball, that's quite alright. I don't have any illusions about Michigan's fanbase which is comprised mainly of Michigan football fans who don't pay attention to other Michigan teams.
But don't try to splinter a forum because something doesn't please you. That kind of thinking is steeped in arrogance and selfishness.
True dat....your exactly right, if you want to post about basketball, use your 1st amendment rights.
