You do realize you'll have to go to Bucknuts and demand an apology too, right? Bucknuts writers were saying that Carlos did it and were reporting that he was dismissed.
Just FYI, the point of this post wasn't to talk about punishments - hence why I didn't list them. The point was to demonstrate how many OSU players have been involved in legal issues since Meyer arrived. Nobody's saying Meyer hasn't done what he's supposed to do re: punishments - the bigger question is, why are so many of the kids getting in trouble in the first place?
Going to respond to both posts rather than create two separate.
If I was a public relations official at tOSU, yes I would demand an apology from any relevant media source that jumped the gun with reporting. Probably would not get it at least from all of them; and the whole notion might be a bit over the top, but in my opinion there is just so much news reporting that has gotten irresponsible these days. Some of it borders on libelous, or slanderous.
And I understand the purpose of your original post, but I did feel as though you were painting much of it in a negative light..as if Meyer is telling these kids it's okay to go out and be knuckleheads. The answer to why so many of the kids are getting into trouble is that they either don't adjust, or haven't adjusted to college life responsibly.
Nearly all of those involved drinking, which is inevitably going to happen at every college campus in America. The difference, in my opinion (noticing a trend, lots of my opinion in these posts ), many of these minor incidents would not have happened at a college with a less stringent police force. Many college police departments will look the other way as far as drinking goes, because as I said it is inevitable that students are going to party.
Things like assault, and or sexual assault are obviously big issues, no way you can "sugarcoat" that. But frankly, there is no way that a coach can know for certain that their players aren't going to do something that serious. The only thing he can do is respond accordingly, and I think Meyer has.
Duuuuude. Come on. You can't chalk this up to some mythical strict police force when that exact police force drove Baugh home without any ticket or citation despite him being underage and drunk in public.
I hope she gets jail time. I hope anyone that accuses another person gets jail time. The people that suffer the most in these situations are the actual victims who will lose credibility for this broad. I won't have a bigger superiority complex than I already have. Hyde was probably scared and probably didn't want anything to do with it. That, coupled with a lawyer's opinion probably led to the fact that he didn't say anything.
And I hope we do the canned line you pointed to in the former. If there was one player that we could lose and not be screwed, it would be Hyde.
I'm getting flamed by random Buckeye fans because I tweeted about Carlos Hyde's possible (now non-existent) suspension.
Recognize my life, ridicule my fight. Give me fuel for the fire burning when I yearn these lights.
PsychoBuckeye has quite a reputation.
It's always the cop's fault.
A large part of our fan base is dedicated to flaming on everything Anti-OSU.
Just read his twitter handle....he probably shouldn't be taken seriously. This coming from a Bucknutter.
I never claimed that it's all because of the police. I realize that if you do stupid things, you will get caught. I know that.
I also know that at least 30 of my friends, including myself, got charged with some form of underage drinking, open container, petty things like that within our first 2 years of school. All on the OSU campus. I realize discretion is wise in college, but come on. The underclassmen are going to do it, whether you issue them a glorified parking ticket or not.
Bowling Green is another school where there is an abundance of police (Campus PD, BG city PD, Sheriff, probably more) who are making Wood County a very large amount of money by arresting kids for living the college experience.
There has to be some kind of happy-medium.
I think we're all pretty much talking out of our asses until we see the video. It's very possible that, even if Hyde didn't intend to hit the girl, she got hit in such a way that it would seem, to her, that Hyde did it on purpose.
We need to see the video before talking about what should actually happen to Hyde and the girl (and anyone else involved).
One guy has a friend who he claims saw the video. He said she started it and his forearm did hit her. If that's true, what's the odds of someone striking with a forearm. I would guess if that's the true story, that's probably in self-defense.
Just saying, there's one MAJOR difference between you/your friends and Carlos Hyde. None of you play football for OSU. Using your own experiences isn't really indicative of how the CPD treats Buckeyes. It's pretty well-known that there are often cops in all sorts of major college towns that give the players a bit of lenience that they might not extend to an average student.
Actually, there were a number of my college friends that played football at tOSU. Same at Bowling Green. Not something I would boast about randomly, but I do feel like I have pretty good experience to speak from.
Anyway, at this point, I don't feel like typing any more and am going back to Bucknuts. Good dialogue though, glad we kept it civil.
I hope the Ohio players hang out with JurrassicBuck's daughter or sister someday since they are such outstanding young gentlemen
Yeah, great contribution to the discussion guy. What an asinine thing to say. First of all, who the hell brings up family members just to make a wise crack via the internet? I'm sure only an outstanding young gentleman.
Secondly, might as well make a blanket statement that all athletes EVER are scumbags, (oh, except michig*n, of course) because at some point time there have been athletes who drank or were womanizers.
I'd be just fine with any of my sisters hanging out with a John Simon, or a Reid Fragel, or an A.J. Hawk. The trouble makers or scumbags that got into legit legal trouble at tOSU all have something in common. They are all no longer Buckeyes.
And social media has given these insecure pricks an outlet...something they didn't have 10 years ago.
* * * N E O . R E T R O * * *
Everyones had enough of you guys coming over here defending your players like they don't do anything wrong. Wrong choice of words? Maybe. I do guarantee you I'm much more successful at the age of 28 than you're now if you want to go that route though.
I'm catching a flight to Punta Cana this morning though, maybe we can continue our E-fight another time. Let's me know, sugar

Here's what doesn't make sense to me about this so far:
How does a 230lb dude assault a woman in a bar without any corroborating witnesses? Did the police not take a few minutes to ask if any patrons had seen anything?
And how did Hyde's name come into it in the first place?
I think it happens everywhere my man. I just graduated from Ohio U, the city cops were awful down there. They HATED the students.
I guess Hyde had been trying to dance with her and she was done saying no.
E-fight? Not at all. Me pointing out that you made an asinine comment does not equate to an E-fight. If you guys hate me commenting over here so much, have your mods ban me. Seems simple enough.
You did redeem yourself by giving me a chuckle with your whole "I'm a successful big shot" bit out of left field. Awesome bro. Send me a postcard will you?
You've been fine over here so far. It just gets annoying when some of the OSU fans who are pretty big d-bags come over here simply to flame, which happends 99.9% of the time.
You don't experience that on your own board. Sometimes we just want to trash everything that has to do with OSU and not have some fan who continuously defends them. We don't give 2 sh*ts . If I wanted to hear buckeye fans opinion all the time I would wonder over to tBB.
