Thoughts? That's all.
National Director of Scouting & Recruiting Analyst
I think Jon Gruden has the best job in the world and I'm not sure I'd leave if I were him.
I think that eliminates Arkansas
My thought is Jon Gruden is a huge name, great personality, and a horrible option for a college job.
- He is notoriously hard on his QBs. How will he deal with college kids who have limited time to be coached and limited experience?
- He hasn't coached in a long time, who exactly would he bring in as his staff? A bunch of guys he has never worked with because he'd need to find guys with college experience?
- He has never been a head coach in college, how will the different game play and all the recruiting rules affect him?
- He won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team and then was fired within what, 4 seasons? The only guy I can think of who won a championship and got fired (or will be fired soon) is Gene Chizik.... So is Gruden a great coach or is he basically a great personality who happened to fall into a great team that masked his issues?
Gruden is overrated IMO.
That was a funny, well-made video by those guys!
As a lot of you have said, I don't get the fascination a lot of college fans have with Gruden. If I'm an AD at a BCS school, I'd honestly do everything in my power to get a guy like Chris Petersen or Pat Fitzgerald. Those are two guys that have consistently won where they have no business winning. Think about what they could do at a place where they aren't fighting with one arm tied behind their back.
They should put the full court press on Gary Patterson
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
He's another guy that definitely warrants consideration - good call.
