If there's one bright spot from the game, it's that our 2012 class looked real good. Dennis Norfleet and Devin Funchess looked real good and some of the other freshmen made plays all around today.
We are college football
Absolutely love that these kids are getting rotated in!!! Will pay off big in the long run. Some are looking very good now!
I also thought Ross and Jarrod Wilson were good.
Ross will be starting by midseason. Bolden and Jarrod Wilson may not end up starting, but they'll get a solid amount of time. The future is very, very bright.
Need to throw to Funchess more, that kid can play.
Bolden and Ross might be starting by next week
Where is Royce Jenkins Stone. He was one of our best recruits in for 2012.
I was wondering that too. haven't heard much about him since he arrived on campus
too small, came in at 206.
he's only seen the field on special teams so far. Not sure if it's because he's not quite as good as advertised or just all the competition keeping him off the field. I don't know which LB spot RJS is slotted to play but Ryan has SAM locked down with Gordon a nice backup, Morgan and Ross have WILL covered and Demens/Bolden are holding down the middle.
lookin like Ryan, Bolden and Ross will be the starters the next couple years.
Devin Funchess will be a BEAST.
He wins the award for dumbest burnt redshirt. Along with maybe Richardson. They both play on special teams because they're too small for gameplay. RJS made a tackle today on a kickoff.
Pipkins was also in there quite a lot and was one of the only DL to get penetration.
Pipkins and Mario O each made a cpl plays on the D-line also, Noorfleets got some wheels and elusiveness, would really like to see Borges work him into the O a little bit, use him for some screens or passes in the flat, somethin to get him the ball in space because he could be dangerous. Funchess looked outstanding, great hands and his height gives us a nice mismatch especially in the redzone.
Norfleet is flat out burner. Run some bubble screens or mid screens for him and let him make people miss
I don't know. With Countess being out we might see Richardson some on defense when we play some teams that throw the ball more.
I am really disappointed with Thomas Gordon this season. He has not played well in my opinion. I am all for Wilson getting more time playing the center field safety spot and letting Kovacs move up more toward the line of scrimmage in run support or even to blitz. It's kind of a scary thought though having 2 starting true freshman LBs and a true freshman starting safety. Not to mention i think Pipkins might of been our best DT this game. Disturbing thoughts.
I agree completely, If he can bulk up a bit and become a good blocker he will be an outstanding all around TE, either way the kid is a terrific receiver and is likely to put up some big numbers.
yea its been a bit of a head scratcher to me that were putting him out there just to play special teams. Seems like he would be much better served with a rs year to bulk up. Same for TR unless they're thinkin they'll wana use him some a nickle
He looks pretty big already. Funchess is smooth as a receiver. Runs good routes already and has nice hands. He should get plenty of playing time this year.
that's what i'm sayin, great speed and elusiveness, we need to work a playmaker like that into the Offense.
I'm kind of wondering why we haven't seen Justice Hayes at all.
yes and no imo, it is disturbing for this year that so many true freshman seem to be our best players but it does certainly make the future look bright and getting these young guys some playing time now could pay off big time the next couple years.
Absolutely, outstanding receiver, might already be our best and expect to see alot of him this season. Just meant he'll probably need a little more bulk to be a real effective blocker which would make him more of an every down type of TE. Either way we got a great player in Funchess, extremely pleased with what I've seen from him.
