Why? What purpose does this serve, other than to make us look bad on an opposing teams site! If they did this on Bucknuts posters such as yourself would go into a profanity laced tirade! Can we stop please. Post with some substance or stay home!
Soap Box <-------Stepping down now.........
When you say SEC team you mean Alabama don't you. I watched the Bama - Michigan gamem and you guys had a healthy backfield then, you guys loked awesome against Bama, now that was embarrassment my friend. As far as nobody cares that THE OHIO STATE went 12-0 I think you may find a few people that were happy. Oh by the way, I just sent Hoke a check for $1000.00 to buy a headset for the games and a box of twinkies.
Fitz didn't play againt Bama...not that I believe it would have mattered.
And frankly...I think Bama would beat you guys by two touchdowns, at least.
Who says ap is more prestigious? Coaches poll is actually still used in the bcs. AP is what Ohio state could have won this year.
My point in 1997 is that Michigan didn't beat the best team in the country that year. They didn't even play them. Nebraska was widely considered the best team and got hosed by having to share with a Michigan team that didn't beat anyone.
Joe Paterno did good things for the community too. How'd that turn out?
Not saying what Tressel did was as bad as Paterno, but he still did them. It's only been a year and half or so and almost everyone at osu acts like it never happened. Why would you honor the guy that's responsible for you not playing for a national championship this year?
You compare him to Joe Paterno and then say you aren't comparing them. It's disingenuous. Clearly they are different situations as this is seen by most as a "victimless crime". Sure, you can say this team is the victim but all those that are on the team now that played for him have consistently backed him, so I'll let them decide on that part.
As far as the game, the honor was specifically for the 02 NC team. Not for Tress himself. The players of that team decided to hoist him up but the stadium was already giving a standing ovation. It was the ten year anniversary so it made sense time wise. It's not like they went out of their way to get him in here this year. But he deserves to be honored for that accomplishment just like all those players did.
I don't understand your argument here. TOSU went 8-0 in a " very weak B1G". Um went 6-2 in the same conference, without playing Wisconsin or Penn State.
I never said I wasn't comparing them...
We'll I'm sure all those boys who were assaulted would appreciate that comparison.
In 10 years Ohio State will be celebrating Meyer's undefeated 2012 Buckeyes. I wonder if UM will be doing the same with their 2012 that had an 8-4 record, a second place divisional finish, and a second tier bowl game
I'm sure most of the buckeye fans still think Tressel is a hero too because he beat michigan and that's all that matters
Wow nice comeback guy..
I just told you why he is a hero to buckeye fans. Winning is certainly part of the equation. He made a victimless mistake and paid dearly for it. That doesn't mean that the rest of the great things he did on and off the field don't deserve praise. Comparing him to someone who had a part in the sexual assault of many young boys is, at best, disingenuous.
I never realized that the capital one or outback are second tier bowl games? Besides the bcs bowls, the capital one is the best bowl game out there and outback the 3rd best imo. Second tier is more like the motor city bowl I would think. Just like the MAC is a second tier conference to the Big Ten. Enjoy your 12-0 record but realize it doesn't hold much weight considering Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Texas a&m, Florida, and South Carolina would beat you silly. Before your BP raises I think we would loose as well. I will enjoy the practices we get from the bowl, the help with recruiting, and being able to watch my team in another game. Enjoy your 12-0 season that should have ended as soon as Cal if the refs didnt make the holding call on the cal TE which brought back a touchdown, and was your biggest non conference game FYI they are 3-9. If you guys are not 11-0 coming into the game next year Urb should be on the hot seat, what a joke of a schedule.
How exactly is he paying for it dearly?
Admittedly, our schedule was soft this year; however, I'd take a soft 12-0 than 8-4 with a couple of ugly losses (14-41 vs. Alabama, no touchdown vs. ND) sprinkled in. Say what you like but we beat Nebraska and we beat you, so if we're soft what does that say about you?
I find it hilarious all these suckeyes are coming in here thumping their chests thinking they're world beaters. Their OOC schedule is pathetic with Miami OH, Cal, UCF and UAB! There is absolutely ZERO competition there, on top of getting us and Neb at home. On top of this, they squeaked by Cal, Purdue AND Indiana yet think they are some juggernaught? Give me a frickin break! ND or any of the SEC giants would stomp a mudhole in that arse just like Bama did to us. If they can't admit that than they're just lying to themselves. Be very happy you dont have to play another one if you like flaunting the weakest undefeated season I can ever remember
Their schedule next year isn't much better. I'd be shocked if they lost more than one game next year going into The Game.
Call OSu cheaters while you still can before you losers get busted for similar violations that the tat 5 did. Your players are no saints NCAA wise i know this first hand with my own eyes and money.
Never said you were soft and I would take a 12-0 as well. My point is you guys need to come back down from Lucy and those diamonds and realize this team of yours got lucky on many occasions and is a good but no where close to being great team. I get it you beat us... As you should. This Michigan team has been dealing with attrition for 5 years thanks to RR. You guys have more talent and athletes across the board along with better depth. Our starting QB couldn't throw and our running back is on crutches along with our best cover man. You beat us by 5 at your place. You guys got the win, you deserve to brag for the next year, the spoils of war! But any of you who think hoke and company are bad coaches and this will be the same when Carr was on his way out and RR didn't know the significance of the game you got another thing commin. I don't give a crap about Tressel and the thread topic, he's a scumbag and everyone knows it. He's been cheatin way before ever coming to OSU. You guys got what you deserved, if you guys still wanna get on your hands and knees and take it from him that's your problem.
I will stand and clap like a SOB when the Fab 5 are brought back.
I'm not trying to make Michigan look cleaner, but all Ohio fans do is point to the Fab 5 and feel that the two situations are easily comparable....which couldn't be further from the truth. Whether (as you state) Michigan distanced themselves willingly to set a higher standard, or simply to be proactive to mitigate NCAA penallites, is actually the whole point...because this is something Ohio never did, and highlights the difference of morals and ethics between Michigan and Ohio...thanks for proving my point.
Actually quite the opposite. Michigan was ranked #1 earlier on in the season, and also had the Heisman trophy winner that was widely considered the best team, and got hosed by being the year before the BCS because they didnt have a chance to dominate Nebraska and send Tom Osborne out a loser. If Phil Fulmer never voted Michigan #4 in the coaches poll because of his vendetta that Peyton lost the Heisman, along with other coaches giving Osborne a retirement gift, Michigan would have been consensus #1 in the coaches poll.
tell that same quote to every mich fan who lives for beating ohio state, and you tell me how meaningless it is.
You don't think losing a 4mil a year job, having tons of people talk poorly about you, and being forced from a career you love is paying dearly?
