Regarding Chase Winovich,
The kids has offers from some of the premier programs in the nation (Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Stanford and even Harvard!!) but is ranked on the four major services eerily similar.
An average 3* prospect ranging from late 20's to late 30's in position rank.
So what gives, why are the recruitniks so down on Winovich's talent? Ohio State and Michigan have been recruiting him incredibly hard like he's one of the top players in the nation.
Did the scouts miss something on their analysis or what are some of the key reasons he's ranked a lot lower than prospects that haven't sniffed any offers such as Chases?
What are your guys' thoughts on this?
Good question . How can all these upper level programs be goin after the same three star . Maybe it's because he is a decent ways away from being college ready size wise but even still , don't rankers expect recruits to get bigger on campus (weight/strength wise)
My thoughts are simple, ratings aren't the end all be all. If the kid is good the offers will show that more times than not. Ratings aren't done by former nfl/college scouts and coaches so I don't take them as heavy as others.
Winovich worries me because he seems to have such a slender frame. Does he have plus speed and lateral quckness after he adds 40lbs?
He has generated a lot of interest, but those offers could be coming from coaches who view him as a high-ceiling/high risk player.
Yeah he is a bit slender and doesnt have very broad shoulders. Somewhat nit-picking now ha ha.
But what about his butt?

Want to talk about how worried you are about rankings and evaluating talent. Here ya go.
From some of the things I've read it appears he had incredible upside but is a little bit of a project because of size. I would say insiders doubts about him making immediate impact might be why he's rated so low. Or as previously posted * don't mean everything and could just be a case of being under rated
If I remember correctly there were concerns about how slender Ryan was when he was first recruited. Also Frank Clark was around 215 I believe.
A RS year does wonders to build a frame and add to it. Winovich would definitely get that RS. Also, Chase Winovich just seems like a football name to me. Lol
11 National Titles | 42 Conference Titles | 3 Heisman Winners | 78 All-Americans | 37 College Hall of Fame Members
I dont quite agree with ranking a player WRT if they would/will be ready to play as a true frosh. Like...ok.

While I think it's stupid, apparently a 3* rating is a projection of that player's inability to contribute right away. They are still projected to be great players down the line, but won't make an immediate impact at their respective program. A 4* is said to fight for time and be an all conference player, and a 5* is said to make an immediate impact and contend to be an All American.
Again, this is stupid IMO. The rating should do nothing else but project their overall college potential. So Winovich doesn't play his true freshman year. He redshirts. He doesn't play his redshirt freshman year. That is over three full years for him to put on ~30 pounds to put him in the 245/250 range, which is more than enough for a kid with his speed IMO.
If the analysts are worried about him maintaining his speed/lateral quickness with added size, that's when you refer to the offers. If the programs who offer the kid have these reservations, they wouldn't offer him. The fact that so many programs offered Winovich speaks to his potential. I will never agree with how ratings work for certain recruits, but it is what it is.
Does Chase camp alot? Maybe there is just limited film/scouting reports out there. The recruiting services probably need more film on a kid then college coaches do in order to decide on the quality of a prospect.
No info on him camping and there is basically just a 4 minute highlight tape of him for us normal folk to see. Guarentee the coaches have plenty of game film though
