Thanks Justin. I like Michigan's policy about this because Brady Hoke makes it very clear when they offer a kid that if he visits elsewhere then they don't have a scholarship and that's the way it is no matter how good you are. I look at it as a marriage. It will be interesting to see what happens.
This is exactly what I was talking about before. He's trying to use Michigan as a placeholder.. that's not going to work out. See ya.
Well, looks like that all it takes is an offer from Oregon and he is gone. We will see if it plays out that way.
If he goes, I'm going to be pretty bummed out. I am/was really looking forward to Conley and Stribling to break the mold of smaller CBs.
We are in for a couple of taller 2014 CBs though, so it can still happen.

"...they have been my favorite school for a long time."
Bye Gareon, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Michigan stopped recruiting several interested CBs when he committed. So he committed to us, but we also committed to him. We were his only major offer (still are) and it seems like the commitment was nothing more than a placeholder to see if another major offer would come. I know Cameron Walker cancelled his visit around that time and I think there were a few others as well.

He's my second favorite defensive commit. This would suck.
Hell, we backed off LMIII because we filled up at CB. I like that we're still in it for McQuay, but once again, using a school as a placeholder is a pretty scummy move.
He gone. Oh well just opens up a guaranteed spot for LMIII
Wow pretty crappy move by him. Really is crappy that we turned other guys down for visits and potential commits because we believed in him.
EDIT: Please watch your language - TW

I know McQuay is a stud, but I would rather have Conley if given the choice. His upside given his size, speed and athleticism is through the roof (not that LMIII's isn't as well). He is also another Ohio kid.
I don't think we ever backed off LMIII, we just told him over one weekend that he might lose a guaranteed spot (which he didn't). Either way, I'll be pissed if Conley decommits.
Too much drama with this kid. Sick of reading about him and Treadwell both
I'm a bit curious as to how the conversations went with the coaches before he cancelled the Cincy visit, because for him to come out in public with comments that make it clear that Michigan is just a placeholder, you have to believe the coaches either already know he's gone or he lied to their faces.
Trust me, if given the choice, I'd rather have Conley too. I'm not the least bit happy about this turn of events.
To me it sounds like he blatantly lied to their faces. It's pretty clear Oregon is going to offer today I'd say
Now this is something i don't like from a recruit. Using a school as a place holder is just not the right thing to do.

Does this mean offer?
Just so this thread doesn't solely contain negativity, who are the DB recruits we either stopped talking to or never looked hard at who could fill his void barring a decommitment? Obviously LMIII and some people have mentioned Priest Willis, but we have been wrapped up on DB's for such a long time that I've forgotten who's on the market. Perhaps this is a good question for you well-informed writers.
Might not stick to just DBs. We still have 3 corners committed. I would love to see them make a serious play for Muhammad.
Yeah I could definitely see us picking up another DL and would not be opposed. But since we're still looking at LMIII with Conley committed, you'd have to think the coaches would prefer another CB.
Know we told Cameron Walker not to visit and we were one of his first offers.
Michigan hasn't fully debased their unis enough for Gareon.
This is a real bad hit for this recruiting class though. Head and shoulders above Stribling and Douglas, and Michigan isn't getting a comparable talent to take his place.
EDIT: I'm probably too pessimistic about McQuay. I just don't get the feeling that is gonna work out.
