I like Michigan's chances better with the upcoming playoff system.
Going back to the B2 Little 10 days- but now the Big 3, Little 9
HEY, if we're using an "ish", then we can say 20. 20'ish years.
Made what? A National Title game appearance??
I have to laugh at the 08 thing. MSU got blown out by both Penn State and Ohio State. MSU was in no way shape or form even close to going to the Rose Bowl.
If MSU beats PSU to end the season- they win the tiebreaker and go to the Rose Bowl
The Rose Bowl/Orange Bowl...Two bowls you haven't made in a very long time.
Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
more of a chance of the B3 Little 9 happening than MSU going to a Rose Bowl.

This is you less than an hour ago,
"Ah yes because it's crazy talk to think MSU can go to a Rose Bowl or two (considering they've played their last game to go to the Rose Bowl in 3 of the last 4 years), but it's perfectly normal for UM fans to talk about the National Title game with 1 NT in 60 years..
Yesterday you were claiming Michigan didn't recruit the same players as MSU, and deflected when shown that you were incorrect.
Dude- that wasn't the discussion/argument
Well it definitely makes it interesting, especially in that one will have an even more direct effect on the other than is currently the case.
Actually though, after thinking about it, the biggest difference, I think, will be that in years where the Rose isn't a semi-final game, it will very significantly increase the likelihood of the 2nd place B1G team going to the Rose...
But MSU had zero chance of beating PSU. Got blown out. Wasn't even in the game. Didn't belong on the same field. Therefore, MSU had zero chance of going to the Rose Bowl.
I guess I'm missing the correlation that you're trying to prove here.
Wasn't the discussion either.
The point was MSU was playing its last game of the season for a trip to the Rose Bowl.- that's a fact. How they fared in those games isn't/wasn't the point.
It's the point when you are trying to say MSU was actually close to going to the Rose Bowl because it just isn't true.
Doesn't surprise me, you couldn't count up to 8 on the rivals site when it came to how many 3* or less commits Michigan had for the 2013 cycle at this point.
Yes it is on discussion. You said that Michigan hasn't been closer to a NC Game than MSU. Michigan has made the Orange Bowl once, and the Rose Bowl three times since the BCS has been established. That's closer than MSU has been. Plus we were possibly one play away from making the NCG in 2006.

Sorry but playing the last game of the season to go to the Rose Bowl means that team was close.
How is this even a discussion?
I'm not sure you know what "close" means. Or you didn't watch the BigTen Championship last year.
Agreed, a program that hasn't been to the Rose Bowl in over 2 decades may be able to back into it, if one of the elite teams in the conference are in the playoffs for a Natty...

I said that MSU has been closer to the Rose Bowl than UM was to a NC game.
I was specifically talking about 2008.
Michigan was really close to going to the title game in 2006.
If Shawn Crable doesn't get a personal foul then we have a really good chance of winning that game.
