UM 9 Ohio State 1
With a clearer path to perfection, Ohio State overtakes Alabama at No. 1.

I have to say that Schlabach's reasoning for Ohio at number 1 is everything that is wrong with human polls. The polls are not supposed to be bowl projections. It' supposed to be, upon careful analysis, who you believe to be the best 25 teams. It doesn't matter that OSU has an easier path to be undefeated than Alabama. He even says he doesn't think OSU is as good as Alabama! Then don't rank them ahead of Alabama for f***** sake! This is the exact same logic that gets us into terrible BCS senarios year after year. People just say "duuuh, they're undefeated, have to put them at number 1/2/etc." No, it doesn't mean you have to. You should rank them by how good you actually think the teams are. The result of this logic is a "number 1" team in the nation getting crushed by a clearly supperior team in the natoinal championship game. Only the homeriest of homers should have thought ND was actually better than Bama. God, people are so stupid sometimes.
And yet OSU will still claim that ESPN is biased against them...
Also, I think 9 is a bit high for Michigan right now. We'll see how guys develop and how things gel, but with an entirely new interior OL, young receivers, and the loss of our best defensive player, I'm not ready to call us a top-10 team yet.
I like Michigan in the 12-14 range right now. If we beat ND then I'll say we're a top 10 team

Good I hope Ohio starts the season ranked #1. It will make the season even more disappointing for them.
I bet most OSU fans think they are over-rated.
Although they would not admit this, They were not a very impressive team last year...and now have to replace almost the entire defense.
I actually think that is too high for us, maybe by 3-5 spots. OSU...I would say they would have to be in the 3-5 range, but I could argue of several SEC teams ahead of them.
Alabama is definitely better than OSU. I think Texas A&M is better than OSU. I would put OSU on par with most other teams after those two, though. Oregon could end up better than OSU, but who's to say with Helfrich as the new head coach and sanctions looming? ND is on par with OSU in that both could be very good, but both lost quite a few major pieces to graduation. LSU/Florida/Georgia/South Carolina have the potential to be better than OSU, but I think they'll lose at least a couple of games each in the SEC which will keep them from realizing their full potential. I also really like Louisville, FSU and Clemson as potential contenders.
My personal opinion is that there are Alabama and A&M on tier A. Then nearly everyone else is interchangeable on Tier B -- so on my list I'd put one of OSU or Oregon at #3, and the other at #4.

i would say #1 is a stretch and give bama that spot till someone beats them...
top 5 is fair (imo)...
the defense will be better then most think...we lose big hank and simon but, get spence and washington back with some experience (that is an upgrade right there)...the db's are all back as is shazier (our leading tackler)...we are thin at lb outside shazier, though...this is the yr curtis grant gets his chance to live up to the 5 star hype, we'll see (not holding breath)
um is fair at 9 (top 10 imo)
I would move both back. As far as michigan I want to see how the line looks b4 we r top 10. I would put UM around 15-14
Michigan is high. Should be #12-15.
