Tbere was a number crunch that could have gotten poggi in. I think he is saying its a for sure grey shirt now
Still depends on Liner and Vanderdoes.
I believe they're expected to get Liner. Not sure about Vanderdoes.
Yes. At this point it does look a lot like Poggi would have to accept a grey shirt and I don't think he would. Got I hope he wouldn't.
Yeah, that is what I meant. Also, the rumor is Robinson was promised first shot at defense, not offense. So who knows about that.
The chances of Poggi getting a scholarship I think are getting slimmer by the day.
If Poggi were truly just waiting on Alabama to find an open scholarship for him so he can flip, our coaching staff would've figured it out by now and told him to get lost. Hoke and Mattison aren't new to the recruiting game. They have a lot of pride as well.
I find the veracity of these rumors coming from 24/7 to be questionable at best.

if poggi would accept a grey shirt then we might as well just stop being college football fans because Alabama will have monopolized this game. That being said, I think he is in UofM's class.
Not only that, but this situation personifies the process of what its like to commit at Alabama who oversigns every year. If your not upper echelon, or less upper echelon then the 5*'s who committed in your class (along with before you and after you), then you will be shipped out. That lack of security has to be disconcerting to some prospects, especially if you dont have a clear scholarship to begin with.
Alabama got Luke Del Rio to walk on. They already monopolize the game. Who gets a 4-star QB to go from being the jewel of a class in a pass-first offense at Ok. St. to the 3rd QB in a class at a school with a heavy emphasis on the power running game? It's ridiculous.
Kids finding out what many of us already know. Bama is at another level right now.
The only position they aren't tops in is DL, and they still have studs left, right, and center on the DL.
I wasn't aware of this. It's actually good news for us in terms of getting Cornwell. Why would he want to go to a team that took one QB in 2012 and three QBs in 2013? In comparison, we took none in 2012 and one in 2013.
Because they're the favorite to win the championship every year. Never underestimate the power of winning (or being right in the mix) natty's every year. Besides, all of these kids have been told they're the best since they started playing sports so even if a team had signed 5 QB's per year they still think they are good enough to go in and take the job and be the hero on a great team. I hate Bama and everything they stand for and what they've done to CFB but it's hard to not respect the product they put on the field. I grew up a UM fan, did my undergrad and got my MBA there and loved every second of it but Bama is just on a different plane right now. Having said all of that however, I really don't see Poggi flipping, especially if he has to take a gray shirt to do so. If he's willing to do that then God bless but I think he has more pride than that and wants to compete instead of just waiting for his turn.
If Poggi flips to become a bench warmer at AL, good luck to him. Some kids are enamored for all the wrong reasons. I hope he sees the light on this one.

I know there are rumors, but the Poggi's have been consistent thus far with how they approached recruiting and visits. Unless they say something contrary to the public media, then I will continue he will end up Blue. Regardless, it is waste of time to obsess about one dude.
This is a dumb post, kid won't be a bench warmer anywhere he goes
You sure about that? I think he'd struggle to make the 2 deep for the Tide (as a defensive end at least). He would probably start as an H Back though.
Really? So ... you are saying AL offers greyshirts to starters?
Yep. Benny seems to have missed the line of argumentation. If Poggi was coming in to start at AL, he would not be offered a supposed greyshirt. He comes to Michigan, he will see a starting spot faster - and at the position he desires - IMHO.
Fellas, I need to remind some you of something...
No matter how much talent Alabama racks up, there can only be 11 players on the field.
And our 11 just needs to be as good as Alabama's 11 on the field.
Our 2-deep (so roughly 44-55 players) needs to be as good as Alabama's 2-deep. That can be done. LSU has done it. We can do it. We're Michigan for God's sake.
I recognize that Alabama will have a better chance at fielding an amazing 11 (or 2 deep) because they will get more players through their program in the same time span.
But we can build a dynasty. That's the potential any blue blood in college football has. Michigan can do it. Ohio can do it. USC can do it. Texas can do it. But right now, we're all chasing Saban's Alabama.

True words. I am a Bama fan, and an alum, but I know Michigan football very well as I grew up in Toledo. Michigan just needs to worry about being Michigan. Get the best players, coach them up, compete to win titles. One of my favorite games of all time was the 1999 Orange Bowl, MIch vs Bama. Go check out that Michigan team and look at the defense. I think the entire defense went on to play in the NFL and you had Brady as QB. Mich just needs to get back to that level of recruiting, and it looks like they are now doing it again. Saban was 7-6 in his first year and had zero players drafted that year. Now look at where Bama is, 4-5 first rounders each year.
^ thank you.
We now have 7 pages in this thread and I still don't think I've seen any substantiated information that would indicate Poggi is seriously considering Alabama.
Perhaps I've missed something, so I'll ask again:
Why is 247 the only site reporting that his visit to AL was an official? New subscriptions would seem to be the only sensible answer. That would be disappointing, but certainly not newsworthy...
Where is the information that he was offered a grey shirt coming from? An Alabama board as far as I can tell. Wow, let's run with that one...
It sure feels like this entire "Poggi decommit" discussion was based on some very suspect information in the first place and it has only become more speculative as time goes on. I'm not trying to be critical...just trying to stay focused on the things we know. From where I'm sitting, even the "where there's smoke, there's fire" argument seems to be lacking the smoke. Maybe a Bama kid rubbing two sticks together somewhere, but that's about it.
