Josh Smith 4 yrs/ 56 million
And after losing Calderon.
I love Dumars as a player...but it is time he is shown the door.
Its obviously too much money for him. But nobody was gonna come to Detroit w/o being overpaid.
I think this team just became a pretty fun team to watch. J-Smoove & Drummond running the floor, throwing down alley-oops! & the defensive frontcourt should be pretty ridiculous.
Here's a stretch: Smith & Rondo are boys. Maybe Joe-D is still tryin to pull off that Rondo deal. What if Boston were willing to take Stuckey & Jerebko for Rondo? Hell- We could toss Knight in, instead of Stuckey, and probably get the deal done. I would want a Rondo extension sooner than later tho.
What did u want the Pistons to do, to get better for this season? Or- are you one of those fans that just want them to tank the season & get a better pick in 2014 draft? Remember- Pistons (and all pros teams for that matter) don't tank seasons.
Overpaid... He's bring in Smith and hoping Danny Ainge will trade us Rondo.
If they suck again- He will no doubt be shown the door.
Joe knows that. That's why he had to try to make a splash.
With the team they had yesterday- its likely not a playoff team. Today- I consider them a playoff team. With a addition of Rondo- The Palace could see a Game 1 playoff game for the first time since like 08/09
I’m done with Dumars.
We’re going to have a 4 pretending he’s a 3.
LOL- I guess im the only person excited about what I could see on the floor for the Pistons this season.
I couldn't even watch the NBA the last 2 years. If the Pistons aren't any good- I cant seem to stay interested. This move has peaked my interest for the upcoming season.
If Joe D trade’s Dre, BK, and next year’s pick for Rondo .
He will get people in the seats. Pistons need a top pick next year though. Really should have gotten Trey this year and shipped Brandon off.
Rondo will not get traded here short of trading Drummond or Monroe. So in other words, not going to happen.
More realistic point guard choices are Jarrett Jack, Jeff Teague , and Brandon Jennings...none who excite me all that much.
Heck, if I had to predict who is the most likely point guard to sign with the Pistons, I would put my money on...Chauncey Billups.

That will not happen. Our 1st next year is already Charlottes, as long as its not the 8th pick or less. So- we couldn't trade that in a Rondo deal, if we wanted to.
I can see Moose being moved before Drummond. As for Knight- I wouldn't have a problem moving him to get Rondo. But not with one of GM or AD involved also. No flippin' way! Maybe Knight and Charlie-V? Knight and Jonas? I would do something like that.
Wonder if a sign and trade to the Hawks is in the works? Probably makes sense for both teams.
I have no problem giving Knight another season at PG.
Both Teague and Bledsoe flourished in their 3rd year in the league. I don't mind seeing what Knight can do at the point for one more season.
EDIT: for your edit. I could totally see Chauncey being signed to try to mold BK7 & Siva

From what I've read- no S&T needed, since the Pistons are so far under the salary cap.
I even just read something that suggested the Pistons still have close to 10mil more they could spend? Seems like a stretch, but I wouldn't know.
I would still like to be able to send Villanueva & Stuckey packing somehow tho.
Nah you’re right I forgot about that.
I wouldn't have a problem with moving Moose and BK for Rondo, but AD would be deal breaker for me. I’m actually kind of hoping they do move Moose now so Smith can play the 4.
While I love Monroe....I love Drummond even more. I'd love to not deal either. But I can see where you're coming from
Wait we don't have a first round pick next season?
I don't know all the details. But somewhere in the Ben Gordon for Corey Maggette trade, the Pistons evidently also gave up a semi-protected 1st round pick.
Pretty sure if the pick is # 1-8 in 2014, its still the Pistons pick. But anything beyond #8, and its the Bobcats.
Were long overdue for the #1
Think of how differently things might've turned out if Detroit (and not Cleveland) had gotten the #1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and then selected Lebron James...
Heck, think of how differently things might've turned out of Detroit had selected Carmelo Anthony or Dwyane Wade with the second pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.
Detroit could've had a dynasty lasting at least 5 years...
* * * N E O . R E T R O * * *
I believe that is the problem. He tries to make a splash every offseason, but its never good enough to make the piston good, but still mortgages the future.
Did you know....
Smith and LeBron James were only 2 players to average at least 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists in 2012-13. Interesting.
i believe the pick that year was number 1 protected from the ratliff trade. so the number 2 pick was the highest we could pick that year

Think of this:
1999: Pistons choose Melvin Levette before Manu Ginobili
2001: Rodney White before Tony Parker, Joe Johnson, Zach Randolph, and Gerald Wallace
2003: Darko over Melo, Bosh, Wade, Chris Kaman, and David West
2005: Jason Maxiell over David Lee
2007: Rodney Stuckey over Marc Gasol
2008: Walter Sharpe over Mario Chalmers and Deandre Jordan
2009: Austin Daye over Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson, DeJuan Blair, and Danny Green
2011: Brandon Knight over Kwahi Leonard
Smith is a good player, but I don't think he'll be a great SF. He will need to be a sort of a veteran leader unless they can bring Billups back.
