yes, but most of the programs you mentioned haven't worn them for four games a year.
Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
I think we could go new school and still have it be tasteful and not look like Maryland. I think the Sugar Bowl uniforms were an example of that. I don’t think anyone is really asking for us to become the B1G version of Oregon but I think we can change it up a lil bit.
I’m interested to see what a matte painted Michigan helmet would look like. I like Baylor’s, and Minnesota’s matte helmets.
UF did a lot of combinations in 2009.
They aren't really on the same level of tradition as Nebraska, USC, PSU, Michigan in regards to their uniforms. I think it would be a mistake to abandon the classic uniform that we currently have.
Florida State has a great tradition with their uniforms and they have some cool alternates, as long as we don't go crazy, I think we'll be fine.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
IMO wearing them for 4 games a year is going crazy
2-3 is ok, Florida State does this, I agree 4 is too many.
I’m sure a number of UF fans would disagree with you but w/e
No one is calling for us to abandon our traditional uniforms (we have never really had traditional away’s) but it would be a nice thing to do when we play a school that the majority of the fan base doesn’t really care about (like Minnesota, IU or a MAC school), or when we play ND or MSU.
Maybe one against ND (big Adidas showcase game), and either MSU or a big OOC opponent.
I guess I wouldn't really care if its away, but I wince at the thought of an entire home weekend of M football being wasted watching something DB designed in a few hours.
Well said +1
I have lots too look forward when we play schools like IU, and Minnesota, or a weak OOC opponent...I look forward to Michigan playing football. That's enough for me to look forward to Saturday afternoon.
I'd prefer a more traditional look. Preferably Nike, that's what I always order for the teams I coach, but that's just my personal preference. In my opinion, Nike does the best job of drawing attention to the uniform, and not the brand. The swoosh does a better job of being part of the uniform. I feel like the Adidas logo isn't part of the uniform, but just sticks out, especially when they put the stripes on the shoulders...ughh!!! That's when the adidas brand just totally takes over the uniform and I feel the jersey is just a stupid adidas commercial.
I’m sure they’re never going to let DB make us wear something like the BB’s or the uniform’s from the UTL’s game ever again.
The alternates will most likely be the SB uniforms (with an option to wear white pants hopefully) and a blue version of them.
The only other change I can see us getting after that would be matte helmet’s which seems like a longshot at best.
We are not becoming Maryland.

I do as well and I could really care less either way but I’m sure it would get the fan base riled up for an otherwise non-impactful game.
I agree with you on Nike. Been a big fan of the swoosh ever since I was a kid. I don’t think we are ever going back though. The Adidas contract gives UM a lot more money. At least it’s not Under Amour or Russell Athletic though
Really? Come on. Wiki Gatorade. Not really a winning tradition full of great semi throw back memories.
I like the old 86 maize color, would be cool to bring back. Not against some form of hybrid retro remake like what they did with some car models lately.
I'm old school. Less is more, get back to basics. I understand minor tweaks but I hated the bumblebee look.
Fair enough. Yeah, and I think our contract was for about 8 years, so we must have a few years left in any case. I think another thread said something like Adidas gives us around 60 million for 8 years, or something like that. It's an insane amount of money.
Hell, I'd wear nothing but skirts and dresses for the next 8 years if someone gave me 60 million dollars.
Yeah it ends in like 2016.
yeah. Michigan has the biggest contract in the country. no way they will go away from adidas. not only is it the biggest, there is a deal in the contract that says that no school will have a bigger contract than michigan and if adidas ever signs a school for more than michigan than they must match the deal or pay michigan more.
and for the alternates. 1 time a year is fine. i actually like when they wear alternates, but it cant be over killed. once is enough. not that michigan needs exposure or that no one knows who they are cause obviously they are one of the most known university in the world, but any bit of exposure cant hurt. oregons alternatives single handily put them on the map. i think it did a lot for them for recruiting and exposure ever since they came out with like 10 different combination jerseys a few years back
i agree, enough to have some fun with it but not mess with tradition too much
I'm all for whatever makes the program more attractive to recruits.
The Michigan home jersey is special. I don't believe it should be changed too often. As others have said, switching up the home jersey for big games is fine.
The road jersey changes every season anyways. If they want to wear 6 different road jerseys for 6 different road games...so be it. I personally liked the white jersey/white pants look from the Sugar Bowl/msu game. As long as the helmet still has wings, I'll be ok with it.
I don't really think that the home jersey should be changed ever except for once every other year. I don't really get joy out of watching some random thing that has no ties to Michigan history. If recruits really need a special jersey to come to Michigan then they shouldn't be at Michigan.
+1 I wnt Nike so bad. but i guess adidas is payin us too much to switch
Michigan uniforms are fine!!!!home uniforms should never change- The bee shit is
Horrendous! Dam kids wantin to be oregon..
