I like 247's individual rankings, but how they generate the team rankings (not composite, but the 247 team rankings) needs some improvement. The whole bell curve thing that they install for only the top 17 players in a class is convoluted and irrational. I understand that they are trying to be a different voice and opinion amongst the other recruiting services, but that doesnt mean you have to do something that doesnt make sense.
That's pretty much exactly it. I'll flesh it out a little, but fursty nailed it.
B1G rules mandate a cap of 25 per class, along with the ability to backdate 3 early-enrollees to the previous class, as long as it's still under 25.
We basically created a domino effect of back-dating EEs. We had 19 recruits in the 2011 class, so we backdated 3 EEs in the 2012 class, making the 2011 class effectively 22 players. Since the 2012 class was 25, we created 3 more spots with the backdating. Those 3 spots have now been filled by backdated EEs in the 2013 class, so the 2012 class is back up to a full 25. As a result of 3 2013 recruits now counting towards 2012, we're effectively down to only 21 recruits in 2013, hence we have room for 4 more before hitting the B1G cap.
