really to bad one of best coaches in the league though his record never reflected it .. Northwestern needs to decide if they are going to be athletic dept that cares about hoops or just football ..

I think he's a good coach but in no way is he "one of the best coaches in the league." I know its harder for find admissible kids at NU but he still should have made the tournament in the many years that he's been there.
Chris Collins, a Duke assistant, will likely be the new Head Coach of Northwestern basketball.

When I first heard this, I had mixed feelings. At one end, there is no doubt that he's caught many bad breaks this year. Don't lose Crawford at the beginning of the season and maybe the Wildcats make a serious NCAA Tournament run. However, at the other end, this was his 13th season at Northwestern and he's never made it to the tourney. That's pretty hard to argue against. I won't say he's one of the best coaches out there, but he's certainly a quality coach. I almost feel the same way about this firing as I did about the firing of Bruce Weber (Illinois) last year. Both are good coaches, but things just didn't work out. Will be interesting to see who they can land.
