I think Bellomy will be the starter, but who will be #2 QB? Gardner? Morris?
I would rather RS Morris next year, than have him come in as the #2 guy. That would only mean Gardner would be splitting time with the QB's and WR's.
Should have taken a QB in the 2012 class....

I would love to keep Gardner at WR. He's got "great" written all over him at the position. Depth is just sooooo scary at QB after this year.
In fact... it's scary this year too.
I personally am incredibly curious to see what Gardner can do at QB.
He was also compared to Vince Young; I'd like to see that. To have an athletic QB who is 6'4" (who can actually see over the O-line.....) is very intriguing. Last time we saw him, he was salting away the Illinois game.
I would just like to see what this kid can actually do as THE starting QB. When he was recruited, he was seen as the future. Then Denard played Notre Dame in 2010 and the rest is history....
If Bellomy is QB, he will be inherently better by the fact that he can throw to Gardner.
If Gardner is QB, he will be inherently worse by the fact that he can't through to Gardner.
IT'S GOTTA BE BELLOMY OVER GARDNER NEXT YEAR AT QB.
I think this is the main issue. If young receivers progress enough where the coaches feel comfortable, I think you throw Gardner back there. If they haven't, and Gardner is still your #1 or #2 receiver, then Bellomy starts.
I really want Shane (well ever QB recruit, not just Shane) to RS.
-A potential Treadwell commitment may factor in. It may allow DG to move back to QB because he replaces DG's talent at WR, although that may give Bellomy yet another weapon
-Gardner makes Bellomy a better QB
-Either Shane will burn a RS because of depth and DG staying at WR, or DG will be a fixture at QB, hard to see both of these happening.
I highly doubt Morris starts as a freshman. He has an extremely high ceiling but he has a long way to go in terms of vision, and on top of that he cuts the playbook in half if he starts in year one. I'm really hoping that he gets a redshirt so he can come in during his second or third year behind an OL that's going to be much, much better than it will be in 2013.
Gardner stays at WR even if Treadwell commits, and Bellomy starts. That's an athletic QB throwing to two bigger targets, which sounds fine to me.
I predict Morris is the starter by the end of the year. Not like we have never started a true frosh at QB before, in some cases over guys who have been in the program for a few years. It's not like Bellomy is the next Tom Brady keeping the true frosh phenom on the bench.
How about Michael LaManna?
lol. you must not understand high school football. St. Ignatius vs de la salle is like alabama playing akron. put lamanna on de la salle and they probably wont win a game. put morris on iggy and they go undefeated in all blowout games. de la salle has no talent. they are an average team in michigan. you can put browne or hackenberg on de la salle and they will still be average. any top team in ohio is gonna crush de la salle, your post is irrelevant.
It should up to Gardner. He is technically the second string QB, and if he wants to compete for the starting QB next season, he should be given the opportunity. That being said, everyone believes he has better NFL potential at WR. However, I don't think he is a first round pick as some have suggested. He is way too raw, and though he is freakishly athletic, the same could be said of pretty much every wide receiver chosen in the first few rounds of the draft.
I dont think the coaches know yet, they will have an open competition and decide who at QB gives them the best chance to win, and that could mean leaving at DG at WR because even though Bellamy may be less athletic, that dynamic with him at QB and DG and WR gives the team the best chance to win....or it could be a totally different dynamic that determines things.
