Gus Malzahn too.
I'd like to see Cato June brought in to coach outside linebackers.
I wonder how long it could take to get a new guy to come in for a coaching job. Do you guys think before the spring game sounds about right? Or are we talking within a few days? weeks?
Would Jones not be interested in coaching? I don't think we necessarily have to go with a guy that's been a coach already IMO, especially with Hoke and Mattison to assist the new hire. A person like Jones, Foote or as you say June know the position and how its played at a NFL level. It's like the argument over Hart vs Wheatley to replace Jackson as rb coach...do they have to have big time coaching experience or just know how the position is played and translate that to the kids? I don't particularly care who we hire but UM is a university that likes to employee it's own vs outsiders so why not go with a UM guy for this position?
He's really invested in his bow tie charity right now and does a lot of speaking. I doubt he'd leave all that.
That and he appears to be more interested in TV/radio than football.
Ok thanks. Didn't know all that
It appears Michigan is going to just have Greg Mattison take over the DL position and hire a coach for another position. Not a bad move IMO, especially if the new guy is an expert recruiter that won't have too many coaching duties.
Hmmm .... this one ... I like.

"... "hire a coach for another position. Which position?
A QB coach would be nice.
Outside linebackers. Mattison would then coach both DE positions (WDE & SDE) and Hoke would coach the two DT positions (3-Tech and 1-Tech).
If GM is taking over as DL coach, why hire a QB coach? What is the correlation?
Got it. Thanks.
To work with the young QBs UM has now and have coming in.
We already have a QB coach. The new coaching hire is going to be on the defensive side of the ball.
I would think so as well.
Nobody on this board can define the word regression.... but it sure gets used a lot.
What is Ron Zook up to nowadays?
Zook would be a good hire. He might not be a good HC but he is one hell of a recruiter and talent evaluator.

Yes he is.

I'd be very ok with this.
