Thanks for the quick answer!
To the rest of the board - FWIW, if you take out Pallante, our 7 regular scholarship offers form a higher rated class than OSU's 7, so don't believe any of the crap about us only jumping them because we've got more commits.
Pulled this straight from psubills on the Penn State site. His explanation was perfect in the change we made a few weeks ago.
It looks like 247 changed the way they calculated team points in the recruiting rankings.
The major change is that a player's entire rating is no longer used as the base value. Previously, if a player was rated a 90, then his base value would be 90. Now, the base value is Rating - 70, so a player rated 90 would actually have a base value of 20.
It's easiest to see in the current classes that only have 1 commit. The teams that have a commit who either isn't rated or is rated a 70 have 0.00 points instead of 70 points like they used to have.
The way that this changes the rankings is that it's easier for teams with fewer commits to jump those with more commits. Under the old formula, you would have to get near double digit commits before any teams were ranked higher than teams with more commits. This should help Penn State get a better ranking this year (despite the extremely small class), if that's something you care about.

Yeah, he posted that here too, so that's what I was calculating. We're up by about 8.5 points on OSU, so even if you take out the 7 that Pallante contributes, we're still up.
Would you guys consider any retroactive juxtaposition of former classes based on the new calculation? Not that you would have to permanently change the rankings, but offer those a glimpse of what that class would have been, and the overall rankings under the new system?
I hear what your saying, but we dont have 7 commits, we have 8
I hear was you're saying, but I feel that when it is all said and done Pallante will grayshirt.
They've already done that I believe.
The change in formula is already reflected in previous classes. There wasn't much of a change to be honest. I think we had a team slide down one or two spots, but there wasn't a situation where a top 5 class dropped out of the top 10.
I definitely hear what you are saying...and for that matter the greyshirt will not be dependent on how many DL we take, but how many we take overall in the class. "Sorry Brady, but JuJu wants to commit, so that means your greyshirt is upheld"
