I am intrigued in Mark Andrews visit this weekend. Big wr. West coast kid though.
Is it for sure we would take four WR, or is this a hopefully we would take 4 WR? (i.e. Harris, Ways, Williams, and Scott).
The likelihood of getting Andrews and Blacknall isn't great. I didn't follow recruiting at the time, but I'm sure people said the same thing about Braylon coming out of high school because he wasn't heavily recruited.
Because they saw him in person (in addition to spending weeks watching film and debating) and think he's good enough to play WR at Michigan?
That's Miami University. I don't think many highly rated players, let alone receivers, are looking to go to Miami of Ohio.
Exactly, Blayze, just call it a night & don't post any further.
I know I am quoting myself, but if we only take 3 (say Harris, Ways, and Scott), is there any chance we would take Williams as a S (or ATH)?
I resent this post. MU = Marshall University. Never talk about the thundering herd this way !
Yeah.. you want to question the offer? Alright
Our offensive coordinator went in watched him work out, and he got offered the same day.
ya I know the chances are slim on some of them but fer god's sake let the process roll abit. Look at green last year? he was a osu lean fer god's sakes. Now there is some talk about dupre and others might come n visit and get blown away as well. we offer ways now and he commits and shrugg off other possible uber talent? Coulda at least offered ways late in the year or flip him towards the end. We already have enough project recievers in york,dukes,chesson,jones....etc
I think its safe to say we are stockpiled on project recievers no?
Steve changed his picture
Not a project.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe the coaches (AKA the people who just watched him in person and know more about this process and this game than all of us put together) don't view him as a project?
Any offer the Michigan coaches make right now, especially at a position like wide receiver where they are in good shape with a lot of top options, should be taken as a real compliment and belief in the player's abilities. Many on here have been on Moe's bandwagon for months now. He really has the potential to be a great player.
I am stuck on basketball, Marquette University = MU
"Some talk" about a highly rated prospect visiting is just that - talk. When a talented receiver (Ways), who just so happens to be 6'4" 200lbs with good speed wants to commit, you accept it. Ways, IMO, is significantly better than York+Dukes and compares to Darboh. End of story. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Steve, I saw that TomVH has said that the coaches will only take one more outside receiver and save room for a slot. Have you heard similar things and is it now a race to commit between Ways and Williams?
I think you're assuming he's a project. Have you watched his video? He's big, he's athletic, he's crazy fast, has good hands, and last year was his first of varsity football. After another year of varsity ball to better learn the intricacies of the position as CMXI mentioned above, Ways won't be a project at all. Think about Ways and Harris lining up on either side of the field in 2014 or '15, with the size, speed and ability to stretch the field that we haven't had in several years. Pretty awesome.

That would be interesting. I'd prefer they take both these two and a slot receiver. But if they only take one, I think I'd prefer Ways. I think his ceiling is higher. It's almost too bad we took Samuelson last year now. 6 Oline... That extra spot would be nice...
I know we are killing it with elite talent but I don't think dupre is coming to Michigan.
#1 I trust the coaches, they have spoiled us with the talent they have signed the last two years.
#2 Kid is going to blow up and the coaches realize that.
#3 he is in OUR backyard, I appreciate the coaches making sure we lock down the state.
#4 Personally, I like him way more then any of the receivers in the last class.
#5 I think the kid can run. He just needs to work on being a receiver and improve his agility to get away from defenders once he has the ball.
Although i think the offer could have waited till summer, they watched him work out. Kinda like speight, once they saw that they were all in.
The next week will be very interesting with Ways and Williams.
Way back in September, I interviewed Moe for the old Tremendous site. His quote on Michigan: "To get some attention from Michigan would be awesome. They are the school I grew up rooting for and it's where my sister went to school. I'd be honored to play for a school like Michigan".
I still think it's fluid but if anyone gets squeezed out, it will be whoever commits last between Williams and Ways. I know the Michigan coaches were hoping for a commitment upon the offer but did not get it. Scott will have a spot regardless.
Any potential for a position change for any of the current wide receivers currently on the roster that might open a 4th spot this year?
