I don't like Patterson that high, too much of a body catcher. Carradine, if he checks in fully healthy at his pro day he will be in the conversation at 5 overall. He's better imo than Ansah. I know mock drafts are ranking Werner towards the lower end, but the only hole in his game really is his lack of hustle. Werner is still a top 15 player in this draft imo. If he goes in the 20-25 area some team is getting great value.
I agree with sentiment that there should be value at top of the 2nd. I think Datone Jones is going to be such good value at the top of the 2nd, and imo he's scheme diverse. He's quick and explosive enough to play either a 3-4 DE or a LDE in the 4-3. I would be all for taking him.
Also 3rd round should have some good options as well. M Buchanan, C Lemonier, and C Washington are all guys that will probably be on the board, and all guys that I gave a 3rd round grade too. They also all would fit the wide 9 very well.
I don’t either but they brought him in for a meeting. I like Carradine just not as a top 5 pick. He doesn’t have the speed, burst, or fluidity that Ansah has. Ansah also is a year younger and provides more versatility with his abilty to rush from the inside.
Not the biggest fan of Bjorn. He has a good first step but is only an average athlete and has average size. His production isn’t all that either. 5 of his sacks came against FCS completion, and the other 8 came against ACC RT’s and Chaz Green who sucks.
He’s the only TE to come along in the last couple years who deserves the Gronk comparison. If UW can protect Price, and ASJ stay’s out of trouble, there’s no way he makes it out of the top 10 next year.
Not a Lions fan but figured I'd stop in to share the terrible news that after losing 21 year kicker Jason Hanson, Detroit will be bringing in David Akers next year. He was downright brutal for San Fran last year
I was surprised when I saw that. Akers proved he was washed up last year. I would've hoped they would find a cheap, young kicker in free agency after the draft or even use a 6th or 7th rounder on one. Baltimore was able to do that with Justin Tucker and he was one of the best in the NFL as an undrafted rookie.
Hopefully they can draft Sturgis or Hopkins in the 6th or 7th round.
Former Olympian who put up similar numbers to JJ Watts combine.
British Olympian Lawrence Okoye recently said five NFL teams had shown an interest in him. That number figures to rise after an impressive showing Sunday at the NFL Super Regional Combine.

According to league source, Cordarrelle Patterson may fall out of the 1st. Eric Reid's stock is on the rise and could go round 1
I’ll be praying this happens but I can’t see it. I still have a hard time believing Tavon Austin is going to go before him let alone Hopkins, Hunter, or Allen. The intelligence issue, and the route running are concerning but you can’t teach that YAC ability.
Patterson would be a steal at the top of the 2nd.
Early 2nd round grade is what I gave him. Would be fine with taking him there.
New Lions kicker... I wonder if he actually likes the band, or just felt it was appropriate to use Drop Kick Murphy's in a kicking video where he drop-kicks a lot of balls?

Lions hosting Vernon Gholston for a workout today. Please help us now
No, it was Tom Gholston for per draft workout.
Jeebus Mel Kiper is an idiot... I wasted like 5 minutes reading through this 3 round mock draft where he details all the team's needs before realizing what a joke it was.
He has the Lions trading up to #1 overall to draft Dee Milliner. WTF? Rarely would a team draft a non-QB/OT at #1 overall, and definitely a team wouldn't trade up 5 spots to take a corner. Especially when they have a need at OT as well, so if Milliner is taken in the top-4 it probably means one of the OTs falls to them at 5. Less money, more picks, and still fills a need...
Mel has a decent memory and can list a bunch of +/- of a bunch of prospects off the top of his head. However his actual evaluations aren't that good, and he doesn't really stand by his own work. Rather he just ranks guys as they become leaked to him(notice how much his rankings change as stuff becomes leaked after the combine). Though this doesn't explain why the Lions would trade all the way up to one for Milliner. Good god...
Maybe were gonna hire Ditka
I saw this over on Walter Football and it's the first I've heard of it, but I definitely wouldn't mind with all the needs we have.
April 18: "Detroit, at fifth overall, would be willing to fall all the way back to the 20s, sources said, to pick up value along the way." - Jason La Canfora

I'd be fine with that but I'm not sure anyone would want to trade up to 5
Yeah that'd be a good move imo. Only guy I can think worthy of moving up that high for though are the two OT's. I don't think a team in the 20's would want to make that much of a jump for L Johnson. Possible that a team in the teens or Arizona might make a move for Johnson if they are OT needy...
No gimmies on the schedule as of now.

I think there’s a good chance this guy is going to be the pick in the second. Mayock really seems to like him, and I respect his opinion when it comes to evaluating DB’s.
D.J. Hayden SR CB for Houston vs. UCLA 2012
D.J. Hayden is the best story of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was minutes away from dying on the field last season. Find out how high hes board.
My ideal draft
1st - (LT) Fisher (CMU)
2nd - (CB) Hayden (Houston)
3rd - (S) Cyprien (FIU)
4th - (DE) Washington (Georgia)
5th - (LB) Green (Rutgers)
6th - (WR) Sanders (South Carolina)
7th - (RB) Davis (Arkansas
7th - (TE) Gragg (Arkansas
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
Not enough Denard IMO
Not a bad draft at all. I could live with this. Green in the 5th would be a steal. I'm curious to see when he comes off the board. I think late 3rd-4th is more fitting for him. I gave Washington a 4th round grade so I could live with that. I love the Cyprien pick, but he isn't making it to the 3rd. He shouldn't make it out of the first.
Love the Fisher pick, he's my number one prospect. Haven't watched Hayden so I have no comment for that pick.
