You and others are mistaken on many fronts thinking Marshall is plan b.
For one, the majority of offers that are on the table right now are national to elite players, only a handful of local kids (MI and OH) have offers. The fact that Marshall has an offer with the likes of hand, Williams, etc tells you he is not a plan b. , if they thought he was plan b he wouldn't have an offer at this stage, he would be in the same boat as gelen robinson. Two, Marshall is not projecting to the same position as hand and McDowell. The coaches want speed from the weak side and that's where Williams and Marshall come in. Marshall may not have the ranking as say Williams, but he is clearly highly regarded by the coaches and certainly not plan b. not sure how that notion came to be

Lulz. tOSU fans will run their mouths no matter the situation.
Yesterday, the OSU idiots were telling us how Urbie was raiding Michigan, and doom and gloom will spread across the state. Today, the Urbie train hit a speed bump.

According to everything inside ohio state lines... they will raid every state & get at least 3 out of the top 5 recruits... at least that's what I hear. But LM did not have a "committable offer:...
I have to agree. If you're giving out offers based off a plan B at this stage in the game, we're in trouble. Not sure of the total numbers, but I think there has only been 8 DE spots offered and 3 DT spots. Out of all the kids in the nation, that should tell you what the coaches think of Marshall. He hasn't committed to UM yet, but decommitting is the first step in the right direction.
Touche Luger. I know that Marshall won't be playing SDE, I didn't really think that out when I listed Hand and Mcdowell as better options than Marshall.
But I think locality is a big reason why he has an offer and might be a plan A guy. I think Hoke just wants to lock down the state (which I have no problem with) and keep strong connections with high schools throughout Michigan. If Marshall was from Indiana for example, I doubt he has an offer and we'd be pursuing other WDE options harder in my opinion.

I was a bit shocked by his commitment to OSU in the first place, in all honesty. Has he looked at the depth-chart? OSU has 2 5* and 2 4* DEs in the last two classes. And that's discounting 4* Joey Bosa who may end up at DE. No way he was starting until at least his Jr, if not his Sr year if the others pan out the way they should. Even if he REALLY liked OSU, I would have given MSU and UM a better look. UM has 2 4* DEs in the last two classes, MSU has only 1. He could likely start relatively early at either program, Michigan being just as good a football program as OSU's.

Michigan fans were saying the samething! Not a bad idea to make sure coach Hoke can't take his backyard for granted, should be another fun year, let the games begin!
Could certainly be true regarding your pt with locality. I like Marshall's game so I tend to think he would likely still get an offer
OSU is thin on weak side ends just like UM so there isn't a depth chart advantage with either team
Come on guys don't you know it wasn't a "commitable offer" anyway???
I really don't give 2 s**** about star rating, but since you brought it up, might as well go back and look at those classes and re-evaluate your math. I mean, star ratings mean so much I would at least think you'd get them right.
I'm late to this but
Adolphus Washington (5*), Tyquan Lewis (4*) and Se'Von Pittman (4*) are all WSDEs from the last two classes. JT Moore and Michael Bennett have played some WSDE as well. Not saying that to brag (I couldn't care less nor could any of you guys), but DE is probably OSU's deepest area.
@BlueMonkey: I just took it from Rivals as of 30 seconds before making that post. You can argue with the star ratings there vs. 247 if you like, that wasn't the point of my post. My point is DE is the deepest area on OSU's team, I didn't understand his early commit there. No reason to get hostile.

Isnt Washington like 300lbs?
Chris Wormley (4*), Tom Strobel (4*), Matt Godin (4*), Taco Charlton (4*), Henry Poggi (4*)....I can play this game too
Not getting hostile at all, but I would assume if you were going to come to our board and talk like that, you'd at least have your facts straight. Not sure why you're not using 247 rankings.....oh maybe I do, because it doesn't benefit you in the statement you made.
Tom Strobel and Taco Charlton are the only 4* DEs on Rivals, that's what I was looking at. Godin and Poggi are DTs. Again, not sure why you're being hostile. Is there any question that OSU has considerably more DE depth than UM or MSU? It'd be like arguing that UM doesn't have more OL depth than OSU. That was my point, he has a much better shot at playing time at those schools--it wasn't meant as a slight to UM.
Once again, not being hostile. Godin and Poggi are starting out at the DE position and dropping inside when Mattison wants more speed off the edge.
Sorry about that, hard for me to read through text. I wasn't trying to troll -- I know nothing about Michigan DL recruiting, it was merely an off-hand assessment based on my very limited knowledge as usual. I'll keep my mouth shut, I've been posting too much on this forum lately for an OSU fan anyway! haha. My apologies!
No need to apologize, but as you can see by the amount of time I've been here and number of post, I don't waste my time being hostile or trolling. I was just trying to debunk the myth that UM doesn't have quality DL players and it doesn't revolve around star ratings. I have no problems when other fan bases try to make a point, I just want it to be factual instead of what they think things are.
I'm out of here for now though....kids need breakfast and a ride to school. Unfortunately they can't do either....
I think you're fine. Mason too. Kinda brave to come over here after a decommit and take your lumps.
