I'd rather have Green than McQuay IMO because we haven't had a lot of elite RB, but we've had a lot of elite DBs.

Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
I'd be happy with either one.
I'd rather build our team around Defense and IMHO...I'd rather have one more ELITE DL like Vanderdoes or something than another DB. But with Jarrod Wilson, Jeremy Clark, Allen Gant, and Dymonte on board I see a lot of competition but too many safeties. I think Deveon is ELITE and we don't need another RB in the class. We've got Toussaint and Rawls...and Rawls is going to surprise a lot of people. Give me Treads, McQuay/DL and be done with it.

We actually will have better depth at corner than safety. Countess, Trich, Conley, Lewis, Stribling, Hollowell, Taylor. I think McQuay would be a better Safety than CB.
You don't need elite RB's. Just need someone who is good, Shane is going to be great enough. Look at Green Bay, average RB's, but amazing offense thanks to an elite QB and great but not elite receivers.

but wouldn't it be better to have both an elite RB or a stable of elite RBs like I think Deveon will bring than have average RBs and an elite qb.
man i hope your right, what an amazing finish that would be to an already amazing class, defense is crazy loaded, gettin cpl studs like that for the O i think i may
Me too. But just so nobody gets mad at me I am just guessing here
lol definetly counting on all that bro but how awesome it would be, if we can even get treadwell and anyone that'd be sweet!
Don't really understand everything you said...but Deveon looks like he could be great in college. It would be awesome if we had an elite RB, and RB's seem to be way more successful in college than in the NFL, but an elite QB is way more valuable to the team and easier to build a team around. If we get Treadwell we'll have a premier passing attack in a few years. Shane will have a great line, a good pass catching RB, and a deep talented group of receivers. The skill guys don't have to be blue chippers but Shane can make 'em look great.
absolutely agree, a great qb always make WR look better, havin some big guys that can jump and catch i think he'll be fine
what I meant is wouldn't it be better to have both an elite RB and QB like USc with Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart than to have just average RBs and an elite qb like Stanford.

bailey told scout gobluewolverine couple days ago that the coaches told him that they are taking two more players. looks like 24 is the limit
I still say Michigan. However, he's still taking visits so a new leader could develop.
National Recruiting Analyst
No one knows for sure but the coaches. I suspect 25 could be there IF three elites wanted in to close the class.

McQuay to Vandy ?? I am not so sure on that one. Green to Michigan? No way.
Now THAT is a key piece of information.
IF Treadwell has a spot held for him, this may be whoever takes the last spot first. I suspect Green will be told such at the BBQ, if he has not already. This places McQuay in a tough position.
q. Who do the coaches want more here .... Green, Bailey, or McQuay?
It's July already, why hasn't Treadwell committed yet?!?!!?!?!
I think McQuay to Vandy is very likely. Distance, academics, and building a new tradition are all things he seems really high on. Originally he said he wasn't sure about cold weather, which could come back to hurt our chances. And SC could be full or just be too far.
Not to be a debbie downer, and don't kill be fir this but I could see this class ending with treadwell and berkley edwards. On a side note, what happens if treadwell is committed and Bailey and McQuay both want in? Or both those guys commit and then treadwell wants in? IMO I think we have a much better shot with McQuay then bailey.
we already got an early start on 2014. The fact that we only have to focus on 4-7 guys for the last 2-3 spots allows more time for reaching out to 2014. Thats why I don't understand the anxiety (not from you specifically) to have Treadwell commit now. We are not losing anything by waiting for his commitment.
That isn't being a debbie downer, I would love the class to end that way.

Got to agree with you. If there is one position where you can have great guys step in and contribute immediately it's at the WR position followed by RB. What can't be replaced with one great recruiting cycle is a great defense with depth. Fact of the matter is UM is selling a pro-style O that no one has seen on the field. Thus for anyone perplexed as to why the likes of Green or Treadwell haven't jumped on board seeing our oline and Shane, its because it takes more than just words, people want to see the product. I can tell you I have the best pizza in the country but if I said you can't taste it until you buy it but still can't taste it for 1.5 years, would you place an order? On defense though, kids are seeing what our coaches can do on the field so we are getting the talent. So though I would love to have elite playmakers coming in by twos like noah's ark, its just not realistic until the pro-style is seen on the field. So until that, I love the direction of building an elite D and completing that team with guys like Smith and York. After all, last I checked the likes of Arkansas, Ok state, and Oregon have not held up that crystal ball.

First two big time elite players that want to commit, welcome.
That is basically what it comes down to.
