what? LSU had a national championship to gain in the rematch. If a team can't get up for a championship game just because it already beat the team its playing, then it doesn't deserve to be a champion.
Seriously, there's literally no other context in which people care about rematches the way people are claiming to in this thread. If two teams that met in the regular season play in the NFL playoffs or Super Bowl, no one cries about "they shouldn't have to beat them twice!" Same thing in baseball. Every NBA team plays every other team at least twice in the regular season, so the NBA Finals quite literally must feature some sort of rematch.
And, I'll point out for the millionth time, I'm willing to bet 90%+ of the people on this board wanted a Michigan-Ohio State rematch in 2006.
This isn't the nfl or mlb. The reason college football is as exciting as it is is because the regular season means more. Wild card teams end up in the super bowl and world series all the time.
Ther reason it was ridiculous to have Bama and LSU play again was because that's not how college football works right now...if you don't win your conference why should you get rewarded to play in the national championship game? Until the playoffs start that's how it should be.
It makes no sense to have The Game 2 weeks in a row. And since most people don't want the game moved...it has to either be one or the other...move the game or put them in the same division and I'm for the later.
I'm right there with you!
