Let's not kid ourselves, for Burke to stay it would have to be a totally emotional gut decision to want another run with his teammates, another shot at a championship. Purely driven by love for the team and life at Michigan and the ambition to win a college championship. In the cold light of day, looked at in a professional manner, it's an obvious choice.
I just don't see any way he rises after another year. What would he do that NBA scouts like more than what he's already done? Carry a team? Check. Score a lot? Check. Assist a lot? Check. Good defense? Check.
The only thing that's holding him back from being a top 3 pick this year is his size. That won't change in a year.
He'll stay if his competitive nature doesn't want to go out with a loss. That's it IMO.
He will not be a top 3 pick next year.
Ducksworth I read the sentence about the two freshmen staying and was like this .
Then I read "but my friend is an idiot" and was all like ahhhh.
Highest of high back down to low. Get better friends!
So they can go both go SF or PF. I just figured with GRIII having a good off season in the weight room he would be more ready to handle PF considering he already played it this year.
Ideally Donnal is a complete animal and he starts at PF moving GRIII to SF, and letting Irvin and stauckas battle for the SG spot. They both would play a ton. This wont happen though because Donnal probably wont be ready and Beilein likes to go small anyway.
you will probably see 2-3 of the incoming freshman PG be one and done. Burke is a better player then Okie states PG but he may go higher based on potential and size.
Theoretically yes. But I think you play the stronger guy there who has a year of experience guarding the 4.
If he wasn't coming back then why would he even care about homework
People automatically assume just because Trey won NPOY this year it means he will automatically win it next year. Not the case in my opinion. Also, even if our whole team comes back it doesn't guarantee we even make the elite 8.
Here's a quote from Irvin's coach about his defense:
From not playing varsity as a freshman to starting three years and winning Mr. Basketball, he’s come a long way. Especially his defense; he really took that to heart. For as talented as he is offensively, he’s very versatile and special on the defensive end.”
This is what Kyle Neddenriep of the Indianapolis Star had to say about Irvin:
I’ve always liked Zak’s ability to defend and shoot from the outside. He likes the challenge of guarding the best offensive player on the other team and he’s had that mindset since I first saw him as a freshman.
I don't know about being a better defender than Robinson but it sounds like Irvin is pretty darn good on the defensive end of the court.
Trey Burke will be live on sportscenter in 14 minutes. doubt any information will be given but just in case I will be tuning in
Trey Burke: I plan on making my decision in the next few days
Honestly, I think if he was sure about going to the NBA he woulda already said it. I think this decision is really weighing on him and he wants to do the right thing. WE LOVE YOU TREY!
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
Right thing is to get paid.
The right thing is for him to follow his heart...and do what he wants to do...not what he should do.
No, the right thing to do is to make me happy. Duh.
It really sounded to me like he slipped up and gave his decision. When asked about what he's hearing from the NBA, he said something like "Some say top-10, others say middle of the first round. I really won't know until the draft though." Not exact wording, but it sounded to me like a "I'll find out on draft day" and not "I'd need to wait until draft day to find out, if I declare."
I think you're right. I don't blame him at all.
Trey is gone and has been gone IMO. This is a no-brainer for him.

Trey Burke announcement to come Sunday per Freep.
Your optimism blinds me at times.
If Trey Burke announces he's coming back, we'll all be able to hear the ripping sound as Moon's raging erection shreds whatever pants he has on at the time.
I'd love for him to come back but he's done so much for Michigan already. I hope he declares only because it's best for him. His stock can only go down next year since he's unlikely to be POY twice. There will be more competition in the draft and ultimately he'd be paid less if he waits.
I hope he has a great career.
He will be an incredible ambassador for the program too.
Thanks for being a Michigan Man Trey.
LOL. You think Moon actually wears pants...
