Who is going to win the heisman this year?
My top five:
I hope Johnny Football wins it. Wouldn't mind if Manti won it since he's from Hawaii but I don't know if he has a chance.
Why is Te'o in everyone's heisman talk? His stats aren't anything crazy.
Te'o is way overhyped IMO. He isn't even the best linebacker in the country. Jarvis Jones is awesome.
I'd say Johnny Football should win it. But Kenjon Barner would be in the discussion if he played the full 4 quarters of all the games.
Taylor Martinez, stud.
Besides int's, Shazier's are better.
Six interceptions for a LB is pretty good. My favorite player is by far Johnny Football but I don't think he has a shot to win because he hasn't played great throughout the whole year. I could be wrong though.
I don't understand why Te'o is on so many people's lists. If he was on any other team he wouldn't be getting anywhere near the hype he gets.
This is the worst year for the Heisman I can remember
Or at least showed up against stanford
True, that would have helped.
Barner, Klein, and Manziel in some order. I'd vote Barner just because I love Oregon, but I'm thinking Klein probably gets the nod.
I don't get the Te'o hype either...I guess it's just because ND is #1 and no one else on that team is remotely plausible, but would definitely be a weird choice.
Also, Tajh Boyd should get some hype if Clemson can beat SCAR this week. 3367 yards, 33 TD, 68% completion, 9.5 YPA, 172.7 passer rating and throw in another 466 yards and 8 TD on the ground. Ya, I know, ACC competition and his receivers are baller, but still.
That's an insane comment about Manziel, he's played great every single game except for the LSU game. Even the Florida game, he played well enough for us to win. Not to mention, he's going to break the SEC record for yardage without playing in 5 whole quarters. Teo over Manziel is laughable. Teo isn't even the best player on that D.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
Johnny Football should be the winner and it isn't even close. Over 3,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing is a great year. The only reason he may not get it is just because he is a freshman. I hate the argument that freshman shouldn't win. If USC was better I would maybe say Marquis Lee, but even then I would probably still choose Manziel.
Tuitt best on that D....
@TAMUWolverine- I'm not sure if you have been keeping track of the Heisman race because just about every analyst has Te'o over Manziel as well, which is why I put him as my choice right now. Te'o has played more consistent that Manziel throughout the entire season but Manziel is my favorite player by far. Manziel has not played heisman type games against LSU, Florida, or Ole Miss. He didn't play horrible but not heisman quality games.
@TAMUWolverine- Te'o not being the best player on the ND defense is a much more laughable comment.
Stephon Tuitt says
I don't understand the Te'o love. I mean, he is the best defensive player in the country, but Heisman? I could name a lot of more dominating defensive players over the years.
That said, maybe that shows how weak the rest of the field is...with a Freshman being the next most likely candidate.
Am surprised that Taylor from Stanford isn't getting more buzz.
@TAMUWolverine- Also, the Heisman is usually going to to go to the candidate on the better team. Last time I checked, ND was undefeated while A&M has two losses. I definitely like Manziel as a player a lot more than Te'o but there's a lot that goes into the Heisman trophy. Do I think there's a chance Manziel could win it? Sure, but chances are much greater for someone else looking at Heisman history.
Te'o isn't doing anything insane. I saw it on twitter the other day, but his stats would be good for around 6th or 7th best in the B1G.
It would be disrespectful to Charles Woodson if Te'o won the Heisman, imo.
Te'o is not on Woodson's level in any way, shape, or form.
I don't see any LB in the B1G with six INTs? The main reasons Te'o is up for the Heisman is because he is the best player on an undeafeted team and has played great against their toughest opponents. That's what the Heisman is all about.
