"(CBS News) CBS News has learned that the NCAA will announce what a high-ranking association source called "unprecedented" penalties against both the Penn State University football team and the school."
"I've never seen anything like it," the source told correspondent Armen Keteyian.
“Those who stay will be champions”

If PSU is banned from football for 1 or more years, ..... wow. Webb may have an insight we are all about to learn.
It won't be the so called death penalty, however it should. The sanctions probably will be multiple bowl bans & several scholarships. They should suspend the entire football program for the 2012 year at least, that's just my opinion. Regardless just sad to see how things have gone at State College.
ESPN said no dealth penalty but ... "The penalties, however, are considered to be so harsh that the death penalty may have been preferable, the source said."
This all sounds like bs.
Why? The NCAA seems to be conscious of not 'shutting down' the town, and ruining the well-being of those not involved in this mess. To balance the decision, it seems they will cripple the football program so bad, the PSU program will be irrelevant for many years - without destroying the local hotdog stand owner, concession workers, etc.
Lots of bs leaking. People are just trying to get ahead of the story so they can look like they're in the know.
There's no possible way they can suspend football for a year.
People need to remember that the death penalty is not "unprecedented." Found that to be an interesting word to use.
The time frame of this indicates PSU worked a deal with the NCAA. Just have to find out what happens tomorrow. And before people, I don't know what the penalties will be. People have obviously been throwing things around on the PSU board (and another private board), but no confirmation of anything yet.
Essentially, PSU football will be irrelevant for many years. I suspect the NCAA has brokered a 'death penalty' without calling it such. JMHO.
