There, I said it.
I agree that he is as a QB, but Denard is the far superior athlete. Let's try not to post these today, seeing as it is senior day after all and this is the last time he will be playing in the Big House.

Agreed, when running this offense. Running the spread option, give me Denard.
Denard is a great player.
I think Devin could be a great QB.
Somebody lock this thread.
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
Why lock it?
Devin throws a great deep ball, and he has improved on the short and intermediate throws over the past couple weeks, but come on. He has played Minnesota, NW, and Iowa. I am excited like the rest of you are, but lets hold off on this talk for a while.
Devin Gardner has played 3 atrocious defenses and not one with a pulse. Lets save judgement on Denard vs Gardner until Gardner faces a great defense. Then if you want, y'all can trash one of the greatest players in this program.
Iowa is like 29th in the nation in scoring defense. Devin has put 42 up on them so far.
Gardner's efficiency is incredibly surprising.

* * * N E O . R E T R O * * *
Y'all are vultures with a "what have you done for me lately" attitude.
Nobody is trashing Denard.
Just making observations and opinions. Gardner gives the best shot to beat OSU next week.
Plus Gardner has thrown 3 ints in 4 games...
No, you're just blinded by past stats.
Robinson had 9 this year before he got injured. Plus he's had 39 in his career. Not exactly good.
No, I just don't throw proven commodities aside when they're banged up or struggling.
That's stupid. Why wouldn't you play a guy who has led his team to 30+ points on offense in each of his starts over a guy who has been struggling?
You play who gives you the best chance to win.
I'm an OSU fan, so I acknowledge that my opinion on this doesn't count haha.
That said, I've watched just about every Michigan game over the DRob years, and if I were a Michigan fan I'd like the way things are shaping up for the OSU game. I've always personally felt that DRob would be more effective in the position he's currently playing due to injury (versatile playmaker/x-factor--some plays at QB, some at RB, some at WR). Gardner strikes me as a better pure passer, so DRob playing all over the place and Gardner playing QB could be the best line-up Michigan has played with yet.
What gives us the best chance to win is both guys getting snaps at QB. We need Devin for throwing the ball and we need Denard getting snaps at QB to help out the run game.
Lol @ "being blinded by past stats." Hahahaha...
Ill disagree to an extent. DR has struggled against the good/great D's, and put up video game #'s against anything less. Devin is flat out a better qb in the offense we intend to run. DR is flat out a better overall athlete. What sucks about your post is putting words in the mouth of the OP and assuming he's trashing denard. Nothing bad about being labeled not as good as a qb that is 3-0, had progressed immensely in those 3 games, and just ran for 3 tds and passed for 3 more, all in the offense we will be running in the foreseeable future. You shouldn't get so defensive when someone compliments our starting qb for next year, and hopefully the next 2 games. Our offense should be run exactly as it was today next week and in the bowl game
The thing is people could compliment Devin Gardner without bashing Denard but they choose to bash Denard instead. Classless in my opinion.
If we were running a RRod spread option offense I'd say Denard is way better, but Borges won't run that even with Denard in as starter.
For Borges' offense to work we need a vertical threat opponents have to gameplan for and at the moment Devin gives us that vertical threat which I just didn't see with Denard this year.
I think Gardner will have a bad game for sure at some point, OSU's D will be a test. But it would be tough for Denard too. We've struggled to get a passing game going with Denard, no matter how highly the D we faced is ranked, it just takes a set of eyes to realize Devin is a better passer. Devin's passing doesn't scream "NFL" at you but it's a factor, it just wasn't one with Denard. Throwing up 3-4 deep balls a half, closing your eyes and praying it's your guy who comes down with it just doesn't work as a passing game.
