Sparty likes to call us arrogant but that floor slapping BS they do only is cool to them. I loved the beginning of this article:
"INDIANAPOLIS— No matter how many times Michigan State's guards slapped the floor, they couldn't stop Seth Curry."
Duke decided to slap Sparty's ass instead of the floor - it was much more productive.
why are they so angry at the floor
Because they can't burn it.
The floor doesn't hit back
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
do you guys seriously not realize that slapping the floor on defense is a duke tradition, and in my opinion cool as heck. it gets in the offenses head as well. we used to do it all the time in highschool. it was effective at freaking them out and getting ourselves amped to buckle down. plus it is also probably a slap at dukes face since they are the once who started the whole thing
Yea. It looks stupid when the other team scores following a flood slap though.
IIRC, UCLA started the tradition of floor-slapping but Duke popularized it.
The tactic is used to fire up the defense. It's a way of saying, "Let's buckle down and get this stop."
But if the opponent scores on that possession, the defense looks dumb.

Obviously Seth Curry didn't care about that slapping the floor sh*t. Stop talking about how cool it is....cause thats all you're doing is talking. You got shredded by a one dimensional player. Go home Sparty
It also looks stupid to do it multiple times every game. It's the equivalent of guaranteeing a win in a press conference or interview. After watching quite a few Sparty games, I think the slogan for their floor slapping is something like Sex Panther by O'Deon. Fifty percent of the time, it works every time...
I think it can be effective if you do it once in a blue moon as sort of a "this **** just got real" call but if you do it all the time it just starts being silly.
I don't mind a team slapping the floor once or twice if they are on a momentum-building run but constantly doing it just makes you look like an idiot.
Trey Burke's mocking floor slap against MSU after torching them for an easy bucket was my favorite moment of the year before last night.
The way MSU did it at Michigan was lame. All 5 guys doing it one at a time. Just lame. What i thought was cool was Burke, Hardaway and Robinson mocking them. One of my favorite moments from this year.
dude im definitely not a spartan fan lol. how about you quit being a terrible poster

You can't actually believe this.
I vote floor slapping is lame no matter who started it, with the exception of when we did it to make fun of MSU because see the first part of my sentence.
It's kind of funny when you re-watch the game in Ann Arbor, when they come down and do it, I really picture the guys saying this as each one hits the floor:
1st slap: "Let's go boys!"
2nd slap: "Yeah, let's do this!"
3rd slap: "Alright, sounds good."
4th slap: "I guess."
5th Slap (Payne): "Shit, again?"
I thought it meant "let's let Michigan get an alley-oop" because that's what happened when they did it against us.
I don't remember this? is it on video for me to see?!!
I hope this is what you are looking for.

I can't think of anything more ridiculous than slapping the floor to show solidarity. And worse yet, it's not even a Sparty original.
Sounds like sparty. They should keep doing it. I like to laugh at them.
I would much rather have my hands and arms in the passing lanes, then on the floor....this is poor defensive technique.
