ITT RCMBers try to come to grips with the resurgence of Michigan basketball and the mortality of their own hoops program. Enjoy!

The only way we could be this good is if we're cheating
And this is a typical Sparty thing to say:
"The resurgence of scUM basketball has been the most depressing sports development in my lifetime, hands down. Not even a close second (and this is coming from a Mets and Bills fan)."
The biggest depressing moment for this guy, as a sports fan, is about Michigan. Not the Big Ten championship game loss last year, not the awful football season, not the JLS years, but Michigan being good at basketball. It's cute.
I know. Gotta love 'em.
That's their fan base. They live and die by what Michigan does. The biggest win in the last 20 years for their football program was appalachian state beating Michigan.
"How Beilein landed guys like Burke, Morris, McGary, Robinson, Hardaway, etc with that system and where that program has been recently is absolutely beyond me. "
Morris....the one who, as a sophomore, absolutely humliated and basically VOIDED Kalin Lucas's senior year, turned himself into an NBA draft pick in two years "with that system," and has stuck in the NBA while Lucas is............where? In Turkey?
Burke will run circles around the rapist Appling, and Walton will pick up where Burke leaves off starting next year. Hardaway and Robinson will be first round picks, which will add even more steam on the recruiting trail.
This year's MSU team looks like a bunch of listless, uninterested mercenaries, and the fanbase is just WAITING for a chance to eat each other. Almost as if they can feel the 15 year free pass that Mo Taylor's Explorer gave them reaching expiration.
Somebody should photoshop the Bane mask onto Beilein. "Here to end the borrowed time you've all been living on."
Beilein must be dirty to get players like Darius Morris, Burke, Hardaway, GRIII, and McGary.....
Yeah it has nothing to do with winning or the great facility renovations.
He must have been cheating at WVU to somehow get Kevin Pittsnoggle to sign there.
Tom Izzo is desperate to win the Jabari Parker recruitment for many reasons:
1. Jabari is a top-3 recruit in the 2013 class and will likely be a top-5 player drafted after his one season in college. He can make a good team into a Final Four contender. Jabari's game has been described as Paul Pierce-like or Carmelo Anthony-like.
2. Jabari is friends with 2014 top-3 player Jahlil Okafor who is also from Chicago. Chances are that Jahlil will pick the same school that Jabari picks even if Jahlil does not get the opportunity to play with him.
3. Jahlil Okafor's recruitment will affect Tyus Jones who is considered a top-3 PG in the 2014 class. Package deals rarely work out but this one is serious.
In essence, Jabari's recruitment can create a domino effect. Those are 3 5-star players that can make a team into a Final Four contender for at least 2-3 seasons. This is exactly what Izzo needs to combat Michigan's rise to national prominence under Coach Beilein. Izzo is trying desperately to make sure that Spartan basketball does not fall behind.
Right now, Duke and Michigan State are considered the finalists for Jabari Parker. And many analysts strongly believe that Jabari Parker will pick Duke/Coach K.

Right. Seemed like in the offseason they were anxious to point out that none of Michigan's players had msu offers lol.
I think Sparty fans are struggling to understand how Coach Beilein rebuilt a program through (mostly) severely underrated players who had little to no hype.
If anything, Coach Beilein has shown that he's an excellent evaluator of talent. He consistently finds:
1. underranked prospects (Burke, Stauskas, Novak, etc.)
2. players that will eventually blow-up (McGary, GRIII, Keita Bates-Diop, etc.) before graduating from HS.
Programs (like State) are used to a steady influx of McDonald's All-Americans or Jordan Brand All-Stars. It amazes fans of those programs that other programs can be contenders through underrated talent.
Way too early for them to be worrying about us. I love this UM Bball team, but they haven't done anything yet. Being ranked #3 is nice and all, but conference play hasn't even started yet. If we make it to the Final 4, then yea, that's a huge problem. But this early in the regular season, we still have a ton to prove.
There has never been a more true statement involving anything, anywhere at any given time!
I admit I lurke there often. I have noticed also, anytime they lose its always because of obvious cheating, refs screwed them, conspiracy theories against them. If we and/or any of their other rivals win its always we cheated, refs missed so many obvious calls, conspiracy theories that favor us, the blue wall and the list goes on. The term self loathing comes to mind!
The one Michigan poster got told to go to hell and his post wasn't even trolling. Gotta love tRCMB.
No joke, I get a more civil response when I stop by at Buckeye Planet. RCMB is just a disgrace and should probably be firebombed.
My first and last time posting on that board. They hurt my feelings...
Once you go to RCMB you never want to go back.
I was there literally once, a year or so ago...and after one comment (a benign one at that) got a temporary ban. Never went back.
This rcmb thread is almost as good as the Ohio left with OL crumbs thread.

I love it.
MSU Red Cedar Message Board
The largest and most active msu anti-wolverine message board on the web.
Home of the only fan base in the world that hates it's rivals more than it likes it's own team.
"Did State offer any of those guys? Would any of them besides Burke, who's only other offer was Penn State, start for us right now?"
"It would be the best I have seen if scum was not even close to being ranked like old times and we actually performed on the court and would be in top 5.....I remember getting the Sports Illustrated with the rankings for basketball in it. I always liked guessing where in the top 10 we were and how far passed 50 scum would be..... them"
"McGary leads the big ten in "hilarious lack of athleticism.""
"Let's everyone chill out. Remember, this is a program that won (thanks to MSU folding after Dawson's injury) their first share of the B10 title in forever last year. They haven't advanced to the Elite 8 or Final 4 in forever. They have little depth, and while they have great guards, their post play will be exposed in the B10.
They'll come back down to Earth once B10 play starts and MSU will make its usual improvements. People forget that players like Dawson, Trice, and Harris are still working their way back from injuries. And that Izzo is still tinkering with the rotation. MSU will start humming soon, and I like MSU's potential much more than UM's."
They're beginning to lose it. Especially coming off their abysmal football season, this is probably just too much for them to take.
God this is gold.
I love the "potential" argument. I don't know how many times I've seen "higher ceiling" on their board. It's like Michigan's not playing with 5 freshmen in the rotation. I guess our freshmen have maxed out this season while theirs will continue to get better.
On the other hand, I guess I can look at it from the perspective that from where they stand right now, they can move up alot in the rankings. There's not alot of room to go up from #3.
One thing about our team that I love is that there are 4 legitimate scorers on the team. Burke, Hardaway, Robinson, and Stauskas can all shoot from outside or put the ball on the floor. You can stop one of them, but you're not going to stop all of them. Outside of Harris and Appling, I see no one on that team who's going to consistently get them buckets.
Is anyone else here interested in seeing Nix try to run up and down the court with Morgan and McGary? I wonder if McGary can run the length of the court in the same time Nix makes it to half court?
