Floyd has always been my favorite boxer, but this makes me like him even more then before haha. Damn, that is a lot of money. Glad that he is rooting for the hometown team though... should be an interesting game on Saturday night.
According to a bookie on Twitter, boxer Floyd Mayweather put $3 million on Michigan to cover the 12-point spread against Alabama on Saturday. Wow.

And people wonder how "pros" are always filing for bankruptcy....
He does this a lot. I have seen a lot of betting tickets tweeted by him. It is crazy though.
I thought sports betting is legal only in Vegas?
If I run a betting shop openly, the cops will shut it down.
Floyd must be mad at that $3 million.
He lives in Vegas.
I love Michigan and I'm excited about this season, I'm travelling to the game tomorrow and I can't wait, rah rah rah and all that stuff, but I feel pretty strongly that the spread on this game is way too low. Floyd is crazy. If I had a bookie, I'd put my own money on Alabama, no question. I wouldn't bet my own money on Michigan unless the spread was more like 17. We've got a "good" team but without Toussaint, Hemingway, Molk, and Martin, I just don't see us staying within 14 points of Alabama's "great" team on the first game of the year. Sure hope I'm wrong, but I can't see how a rational well-informed objective observer of our team could feel otherwise. It'll be fun to get this season started, regardless of the outcome this weekend. GO BLUE!!!
He makes 50m a fight. This is really not a big deal.
You'd have a point if he did this consistently, was retired, and had no other sources of income.
Neither of the above are true.
Maybe he's trying to make the line go down so he can put $5MM on Bama.
Well i think the first part of your sentence is wrong. I'm pretty sure that he does bet consistently.
He does not bet ~2.5% of his net worth on a consistent basis.
Michigan will either be his favorite or most hated team in America after the game.
what a dumb ass.
For betting $3 million, or betting on Michigan?
He is a dumb ass because he considered Ohio.
unless he does it every weekend... nice bet Floyd
As I suspected: only Saban can beat Mayweather
But he only fights once every 2 yrs, and he pays federal income taxes. For the 2011 and 2012 tax years his income on 1040 filing is 0
I believe he is a BIG fan in general, as he bet a million on the buckeyes to win the NCAA tournament last March
He will be broke in 10 years...bank it
What are you talking about? Just a few months ago he bet 2 million on a clippers game.
