Neither made the trip to Dallas, per Hoke release.
Right call was made.
I love Coach Hoke.
I'm honestly surprised and frankly disappointed but it is indeed the right move. More importantly it'll also shut up everyone who came down on Hoke while knowing absolutely no facts.
Why are you surprised? Or disappointed for that matter? Hoke has been dropping hints about it all fall and they both committed crimes. They needed to be suspended.
Surprised because I thought he would play. The hints pointed towards both sides because Hoke gave away absolutely nothing to the media hence why no one knew what the decision would be except for you apparently who was picking up on all the "hints." Personally I was leaning towards thinking he was going to play.
Disappointed because I want to see the best players on the field for this game. Honestly you can save all that, "we're above it holier than thou" crap. It's college football, I really dont think anyone isn't dirty somewhere along the line, just depends on whether or not they're caught. I really don't care if that doesn't make me a good Michigan fan by your standards I just wanted to see the best running back on my favorite team play.
Having said that, it was the right decision.
Once again, my faith in Hoke is restored.
He made the right call, and once again demonstrated the difference between us and the SEC.
Hell, he demonstrated the difference between us and OSU. You can be damn sure that if Fitz had gotten a DUI before our bowl game, he wouldn't have played...unlike Pryor, Posey and that whole crew.
im not hating on you making this statement about my team but im curious
how many games are they suspended for? is it just the alabama game? ive heard talk recently that it could be 2 games but that was all speculation. as for the osu slam i always found it humorous that the NCAA ruled those players eligible for the bowl game despite their violations. they recognized violations were made and then said go ahead and play this game but not next season lol and then we have to forfeit the win. but its whatever its passed. im glad for the sake of the BIG that michigan made the correct move here
Dang you mandb21 I was gonna post this but didn't have service enroute to Dallas.
Great move by Coach Hoke, it sends a message that will pay off in the long run.
Much respect from this Bama fan...
I'm honestly not sure how long they're suspended for. All that Hoke has announced so far is that neither are playing against Alabama.
And yes, I think the NCAA allowing the players to be eligible was a huge joke as well. I lay their ability to play in that bowl game 50-50 at the feet of OSU and the NCAA. The NCAA should have ruled them ineligible, and OSU should have suspended them regardless, but neither did what they were supposed to do.
According to mgoblog, hoke's statement said one game.
I have been consistent, said this was the decision that needed to be made, and Hoke again lived up to my high expectations.
We are Michigan.
Hmm. Personally, I think Frank Clark should be suspended for longer, but considering who we play in Weeks 2 and 3, it wouldn't make much of a difference. The important one was the Alabama game.
Good job Hoke, it was the right move.
Great decision. I'd have enjoyed the game less if they were playing.
Unless something amazing comes out of Clarks trial the 11th he should be suspended the whole year. I'm fine with Fitz getting 1 game. Good job Hoke.
Depends on what comes out of his charges. He might be a week by week decision.
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
I was expecting this, but am relieved it is finally a done deal. Win or lose, it is clearly the right call. I still believe the decision was made a long time ago, but don't expect we will hear any of the coaches ever admit to that.
Now let's go kick the crap out of the defending National Champions. Go Blue.

I was hoping they would be suspended. I whole heartily agree with this decision good call Hoke.
I would like to see the quote where someone on this board was coming down on Hoke like you say.
I don't think he meant this board. Just go over to the Blue Board, they have a 11 page thread about it, and, to put it nicely, the first 8 pages are a mess.
This keeps up Hoke's streak of being awesome. He is cementing himself as a great coach for Michigan.
He cares more about making these players into great people and great representations of the university than winning games, and that's what everything should be about.
Along with ND and Michael Floyd......(or was he not suspended for the first game?) I know UTL was the second game and he played.
There's a video on espn about the fitz getting benched for the Alabama game. Desmond Howard takes a dig at Ohio's handling of tat-gate.
Is Clarks situation emblematic of Stonum? He gets redshirted the whole year, then on a tight leash and will have to prove himself the rest of his Michigan career?
