Huge for us. Hoke when asked about Gardner's RS status, "I would expect that to go through".
Guy was a beast this year, and to think we get him for another 28 games its awesome!
Let's just hope Lewan stays, because if so we will have a nasty team
EDIT: This quote came from Hoke's weekly presser.

30, don't forget the bowl games and playoff format for the titles run in 2014.
That would be wow.
Yea saw that. Awesome if it happens
Best news this week.
Great news for Michigan. Gardner's versatility is pretty amazing. It was unbelievable how he was able to switch to WR and have success there and then switch back to QB without losing a beat. Really impressed with Gardner this season.
That's great news!
Hopefully, Gardner will redeem himself in The 2014 Game in Columbus. He made 2 mistakes on the final Michigan offensive Michigan possession:
1. After he scrambled (on 2nd down?) he could've tucked it and ran for at least 15+ yards which would've given us a better chance to sustain the drive.
2. His intercepted pass which essentially ended Michigan's hopes of winning The Game.

* * * N E O . R E T R O * * *
This just made my day! Allow Shane to develop and not be rushed and provide us with more depth. Really hope we can red shirt Shane next year.
Devin's success always makes me think back to the Gardner/Bolden debates three years ago when they were both in high school. Lots of heated discussions back then as to whether UM was making the right choice in pursuing Gardner over Bolden.
Funny how hindsight works, heh.

For some reason I'm still in the see it to believe it mode. Hope it does indeed happen.
This is legitimately the best news I've heard in a couple weeks re: Michigan Football.
Normally I would be to, but the coaches have been so mum/non-committal on this issue for the last 2 years, for there to finally be a positive answer I think is extremely encouraging.
This will help Shane learn and not be forced onto the field too early. Awesome.
Please let this be granted to help solidify our WR and RB spots in this years class.....and make Lewan stay.
This won't have anything to do with Lewan. Gardner is definitely here next year. This RS is for 2014. Even if Lewan stays his whole five years, his last year is 2013.
Ditto. I would LOVE two more years of Devin Gardner.
If you want some laughs, check out this thread. It's a conspiracy!!
SIAP, but didnt see anything about this yet.
Isn't it always a conspiracy? Hell, next thing you know they'll be floating the rumor that we're in talks to grant Denard, Jake Long, David Molk, Braylon Edwards, and Charles Woodson all medical redshirts to play in 2014.
hoke said "expected". I don't believe anything he says unless he said it is going through for sure. I will be so happy if it's true but I'll hold off my excitment until it happens
They are not the only one...there is a similar thread at Bucknuts...though even some rational Buckeye fans are objecting to the conspiracy theorists.
I will admit, I find it funny they're making moves on this Medical RS now that they see that the dude can play some football lol
Before, it was like "meh, we'll see." Now it's "we're doing it now."
I definitely hope he gets it. I'm officially optimistic.
I'm almost certain they've been consistent in saying they wouldn't know until the end of this season/beginning of (what would be) his 5th year senior season, or something similar.
I doubt it has anything to do with what Gardner's been doing recently.
Yep, found it.
"The AD clarified the status Devin Gardner's redshirt. His redshirt status will be evaluated at the end of his 4 year career. No final ruling will be issued until then."
"Brandon stated the paperwork was turned into the NCAA and Michigan is waiting on their ruling as to whether or not Devin Gardner will be granted a medical red-shirt year or not."
From March of 2011.
