There are still people that think this?
I agree with this. And you seem like one of the reasonable Buckeyes. Losing Conley hurts, especially to a rival. We wouldn't have offered him if we didn't want him. But he's not irreplaceable. TBH I think OSU would be crazy to move him to WR (but sincerely hope you do). It's much easier to find good 6'2" WRs than good 6'2" CBs. Losing Conley really just means we need to work harder to win the next battle (Peppers in 2014 maybe?).
Also, we need to not be afraid when other B10 teams land good recruits. There is plenty of talent to go around and if it's not going to B10 teams it's going to other conferences and making them better. The B10 is not going to maintain itself as a top football conference if only one or two teams are landing top 25 classes every year. Look at basketball. It's exciting to see all the highly ranked teams from the B10 the past two years and I want that to continue even if it means we are going to lose a couple more games every season. I would love to see B10 football get back to the point where it looks more like B10 basketball.

He has never said that. You've been fed that lie by your terrible writers.
It's never been his policy. It's just been what you all think his policy is. But you've all been wrong. It's ok though, you must be used to being wrong.
All of the OSU and MSU posters do it's cute.
Be careful. You aren't allowed to criticize Bucknuts writers.
you don't re offer someone if you didn't pull the offer in the first place
"However, Hoke’s policy on committed offers taking visits elsewhere is a bit draconian. Whereas many schools may, understandably, treat a commit visiting elsewhere as a signal that a coaching staff may want to recruit as if that recruit was no longer committed, Hoke pulls the offer."
I've read many quotes like this one in many different articles. Now if this is wrong... I can man up and admit the mistake. BUT you can't deny that this has been widely reported! If it's a lie than it's a pretty well done job of creating a rumor because when I google it it's everywhere. You own posters are saying it (and you) ... that the story is out there and people believe it. So I didn't just pull it out of nowhere and you know it.
I'm going to keep looking at it and find a more "official" story or quote from Hoke. But if I can't confirm he said it... I'll admit it. But dude.... what are these boards without a little fun? I love it when you guys come to our boards and debate us. And again, if you look at my original post... wasn't trolling. Have a little fun and don't be so insecure!
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
THANK YOU!!! Right there.
It's a solid story and you know it. Even if you disagree or don't believe... you can't just say this is something we're making up!
It's out there!
Mattison extended the exact same offer
How many of those did Urban actually recruit/get a chance to recruit?
We screwed up on Thomas (previous staff), and he's a good kid who knew what he wanted. You stole him no way.
Butt, Dukes, Charlton, and Douglass all never even sniffed an OSU offer, nor did we even recruit any of them seriously. That's still not stealing anything from us.
McCray we can debate whether or not he was just a who cares lets see where this goes offer or a serious offer. I say not, but you will probably say yes.
Gedeon was always destined not come to Ohio State.
I will give you Smith was a win and Gedeon too. That's two players who Ohio State actually wanted. Michigan has historically always gotten about two players Ohio State wanted from Ohio. I imagine the same will be true in 2015 as well.
"Playing here is the closest thing to heaven on earth..." - Brian Rolle
Why? I criticize them all the time!!
I think you guys are far more ready to ban someone for saying ANYTHING critical of your team!
I dont understand why we havent tried to offer James Crawford... every time I watch this guys film I cant find a reason why he wasnt offered. The kid is very good and played at a premiere high school.
Question? So Dawson wasn't re offered? BC he was listed as a commit, wanted to visit Florida did and then was no longer listed as a commit. Then recently he spoke with your coaches to just confirm he still had the original offer? Bc i thought he was re offered? I mean no offense I am just confused by the logic.
So you gave us Conley? Interesting. If anything we gave you Dymonte and McCray who were Scarlet and Gray all day if offered earlier. 2 great early Xmas gifts to your class. Gedeon was a solid grab from UFM but i dont think he went too hard after the others you listed, sir
They weren't offered earlier because Urbs struggles to evaluate talent on his own.
Well, you aren't allowed to do it over here.
The thing is the policy has gained traction and we mostly know what it entails, but I don't think Hoke has ever 100% discussed it nor does he probably care to.
Dawson and Brown (last year) lost their scholarships because they tried to take the visits behind the coaching staff's back. Conley was up front about him wanting to take visits and when Mattison visited him in school I am sure he was told he is not considered a commit anymore because he wanted to take the visits, but we will still recruit him. That seems to be the difference is that if you communicate to the coaches your desire they might understand. But honestly I don't 100% know that and it is only speculation based on what has happened in the past.
Congrats on the pickup of Conley. I really wanted him in the class, and I hope he has a great career minus 4 games (8 maybe? Unless re-alignment puts us in the same division? Stupid B1G...).
"Isn't it amazing what somebody will do when he can't bunt." - Vin Scully
Hahahaha that's awesome excellent x-files reference +1 sir
At least he can coach them and recruit them.
Let us know when Hoke even SNIFFS a national championship game like Meyer or Tressel, ok?
It is wrong. So admit the mistake.
Let's look through the commits who have visited elsewhere:
Pharaoh Brown? Lied about it, went behind the coaches backs, lost his offer, and committed to Oregon.
David Dawson? Lied about it, went behind the coaches backs, lost his offer, met with the coaches, gained his offer back.
Gareon Conley? Was honest with the coaches, handled it well, still had an offer.
So anyone with half a brain can see that if the coaches are lied to, they pull the offer. The recruit still has a great chance to end up reconciling with the coaches if they realize their mistake. It's too bad that you've been reading from people who evidently don't have half a brain to make that connection.
Agree with you
Both Conley and Dawson said that was Hokes policy
