Gareon has decided to de-commit from Michigan today. Definitely a strange recruitment.

Gotta love recruiting. 100% committed yesterday, decides to de-commit today.
Huh? That's weird. Wish him the best wherever he goes.
Tremndous stikes out again...
I get the feeling this was mutual, since it was because Mattison visited Conley's school today.
Tremendous got a quote directly from Conley and reported it. He did nothing wrong.
I thought a few other recruiting services were reporting he was still committed too.
Anyway, I'm just glad this drama is finally over with and the coaches can move on.
Wonder if there's still a chance that the staff will re-recruit him seeings how it sounds like Conley was open with the staff about it.
I think we will. Mattison was at his house today so it must have been a mutual thing.
So looking at this from the outside, IMO the progression indicates that the coaches dropped him.
Conley visited OSU, leaves early and tells some sites that he's still committed. Then a day or so later, says he's decommitted. This is JMO, but sounds like he talked to those sites before he talked to the coaches. Then the UM coaches talked to him and he found out he couldn't stay committed.
I haven't followed it nearly as closely as you guys, though, so if that is wrong, my fault. Just going off of what I've seen of this recruitment. Strange indeed.
I gotta think they are still going to recruit him after all they took the time to visit the kid. Sucks and hope it works out in the end for both parties.
I believe you're correct.
I think there is a good likelihood that this is true. Not sure if that means we'll still recruit him or not.
That's what it looks like to me as well.
You pay too much attention to Michigan recruiting.
This seems like a decommitment that would've occurred policy or not. I can't imagine our coaches pulled his scholly but who knows what's happening behind the scenes.
I think the problem some have with Tremendous, is that his attitude is crap. Poor kid takes everything personal in tweets and if you ever comment on his little web site. Guy needs to grow up a little bit, if your going to break down games and crap like that then people are going to comment on it and he needs to take it in stride instead of acting like a spoiled brat.
I definitely think the coaching staff made the decision to not consider Conley a commit anymore. Just last night he said he was 100% Michigan, then today Mattison visits his school and they separate ways.
I'd have to imagine Michigan continues to recruit him back.
Happening the way it did (with Mattison visiting him) means it was likely mutual.
My guess? He was asked if he was considering other visits, he said yes, at which point Mattison told him he may be better off as uncommitted until he has made up his mind.
Fine by me. Both sides treat each other with respect and honesty. I hope he returns to the fold, but best luck to the kid.
From my perspective, I would guess that Conley didn't want to lose his spot, but the meeting with Mattison changed things in one of two ways:
1) Mattison informed him that the visit nullifies to the scholarship offer.
2) Mattison informed him that he could decommit and Michigan would still recruit him, so he decommitted.
So yeah, could go either way. I don't know which is more likely.
I really hope we continue to recruit him and he does visit UM again.
I wonder if the coaches gave him the choice between: (1) being a commit but absolutely no more visits or goodbye scholly; and (2) being allowed to keep his offer and take visits other places, but not be considered a commit anymore.
I hope that's what the situation is and the coaches will continue to recruit him, as opposed to him just getting his offer yanked for the OSU visit.
yeah, this is what I'm thinking, well done expressing it more succinctly. Very much hoping it's #2, and I think that's what it sounds like too, given the language used and the progression of events.

That's kind of the hunch I got as well. Perhaps Mattison was even trying to protect the kid's best interest (i.e. rather than saying they're/Michigan's dropping him, allow Conley to come out and say he's decommitting from Michigan instead--makes it look like it was Conley's decision rather than Michigan cooling on him).
I heard on 11W that he doesn't plan to visit Oregon anymore either, only OSU. So you have to think it's Michigan, OSU or nothing for him at this point. I like OSU's chances though, otherwise why bother decommitting from Michigan just to recommit later? Especially after you've already had the chance to unofficially visit for OSU's game on Saturday and don't really take full advantage of it? That's what makes me think it was Michigan cooling on him. He already had the chance to experience OSU and kind of blew it off. Why now decommit from Michigan just to visit OSU again (and not Oregon if reports are correct)? Strange all around.
