SKWDCOP, while I appreciate a lot of the info you bring to the board, I'd like to request that before you start a new thread, you just do a quick check of the recently updated topics. Ducksworth posted this in the 2014 recruiting thread 20+ minutes ago, and while it's a cool little thing, I don't know that it's really entirely thread-worthy.
I respectfully disagree. They literally posted within minutes of each other and I don't see anything wrong with posting UM related material on the board. I would never have looked in the 2014 recruiting thread expecting to see a video such as this. To me it comes across nitpicking, but that's just my view when we're dealing with so many other things.

Maybe it's a product of me generally looking through all the new threads on the board, but I find it rather unnecessary to have multiple new threads about little things (tweets, vines, etc) that can just be tossed into one of the larger threads. It just clutters the board. If it's important info, then by all means create a new thread, but it just seems more sensible to use a little bit of discretion.
Of course, this is all just my personal preference, but I wanted to get it off my chest. No disrespect or offense meant, and I hope none taken by anyone.
I'm with you. I really like that SKWDCOP is a member of the board, it's almost like having another insider. Sometimes he gets info before the staff members, it's pretty amazing. I hope SKWDCOP continues to post, but things like this I don't feel are thread worthy.
I have a feeling many more interesting things from Coach Manning will end up here.
I agree with you on this. Its not a big deal right now, and SKWD brings a lot of good info to the board. But as this board grows, and as we get into more busy seasons, there should be a some discretion on what is thread worthy.
EDIT: I think a good rule to go by is avoiding links without comment. Threads are for discussion, and an OP should make an attempt to stimulate discussion. Some items don't need comment to stimulate discussion.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. If you look at it from two different sides, a member who is non stop on the board vs someone who checks in randomly, you'll see the possibility of missing something like this. I for one don't regulate the 500+ page threads to know where specific items are at, let alone assume a link like this would be located where it was originally posted. In a sense, I could see post such as this helping the board grow vs clutter. As buttesnake said, this opens up the possibility for Coach Manning discussion/more info regarding him. To each their own, I'll maintain my minority position on this....but nonetheless!!!
yeah this is Coach Mannings thread now...anything Coach Manning does that is cool can just go here.i think this thread is fine. i mean this isnt even really 2014 recruiting but it got put in the 2014 recruiting thread
That's fair enough. I would just recommend the OP does what he can to lead discussion in that direction.
If it hadn't been for the meta chat concerning what is thread worthy, this might have just fallen down the board and been clutter.
Wholeheartedly disagree. Just wanted to throw that out there for balance. This forum is incredibly low on threads. I think too much goes into too few threads and it's difficult to keep up with things because pages turn so quickly.
Nobody on this board can define the word regression.... but it sure gets used a lot.
Some of you guys turning into Beaver, just complaining about nothing.
Roy Manning has already got some stellar reviews as a recruiter, and this is only the beginning. He is going to be a true FORCE on the recruiting trail. And honestly, how the hell could he not?! I would absolutely love to have a position coach like him.
Is there a way to play vine videos on android without having to download itunes app?
There's a vine app on android devices now. Check the playstore. At least I just downloaded it to my Samsung Galaxy S3 on friday. Good luck.
CMX, why are we complaining about clutter? If something isn't thread worthy it will be decided on its own and pushed down the board, based upon the amount of attention it will/will not got.
I don't know why we would potentially discourage people from posting topics on the board. If some one wants to post something, let it rip, and if it is not that sweet of a topic it will run its due course. Boards that have all kinds of unwritten rules, usually end up discouraging discussion, and drive people away. The more the merrier in my opinion!
Hope Coach Manning can do work on Brian Cole from Saginaw
First off, I think it could be looked at from either direction: discouraging topic posting or encouraging discussion. Its seems like a perfectly reasonable request that people contribute some discussion of their topic.
And you cannot take one thread's value on its own. Every untreadworthy topic can hurt the forum as a whole and take away from its appeal. As this forum grows and more people post, that is amplified as more topics chase the same amount of info.
An example of what I mean is this: If I were, for some reason, only able to check the forum once every couple of days, there is little chance I would wade through RCMB-level drivel. I would just steer clear of the board altogether.
Board policing other than mods cleaning up swearing/banning the appropriate figures doesn't encourage good healthy discussion/growth at all.
Politely requesting does equal board policing, but I think we've both made our points.
I personally appreciate threads like this. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Maybe it's the look this place is going for but there really isn't all that much new material to read through and I prefer reading new threads as opposed to 20-30 page monstrosities, but that's just my personal preference.
Sometimes I simply do not have the time to scroll through 70 comments on a thread, and I am sorry would not have looked for this in a 2014 recruiting thread if I did. Though I appreciate you are trying to keep the clutter down, I personally do not need you to comment every time you think what I post is necessary or is in your opinion thread worthy. Sorry not trying to be a jerk, but I do not have time to get your opinion on what is thread worthy either.
Lol thanks buttesnake. Longtime lurker here. Great website and good discussions.
