This makes two players from Bo Pelini's HIGH SCHOOL who have abandoned Nebraska in the last week.
I also remember hearing from so many Husker fans here about how Heard was ready to step in and be a huge contributor, so it isn't like Nebraska's losing some scrub who wasn't getting any playing time.
MyValleySports.com has learned that Cardinal Mooney product Braylon Heard is transferring out of the Nebraska football program.
We really do need a mushroom cloud emoticon.
How is Nebraska not doing well on the recruiting trail? I feel like they could keep their resources in Texas and capitalize on new grounds in Ohio and the midwest. And they've had some success recently and established themselves as one of the top programs in the Big Ten. But somehow they're really struggling.
Think tho, who are they going to get in Ohio that UM or OSU wants? I can't think of one top name who has left ohio for any school other than UM or OSU in the last 2-3 years. OSU and UM is starting to put ropes around the Midwest states as well. Nebraska is in no mans land, they don't have a fertile region to religiously pull from. Texas? That's UT, OU and a&m

If I'm a Nebraska fan, I would be very nervous about the state of my team and not to mention, seeing what Michigan and Ohio State are doing, not good for them.
They snagged Courtney Love out from under OSU's nose.
Not sure he was truly that high on OSUs list
Sparty got Sevon Pittman! He was highly rated out of Ohio.
At the time, he absolutely was. Homegrown product, and they were hurting for LBs. They absolutely would've accepted his commitment. It wasn't until after the big 3 LBs in Ohio went elsewhere (Gedeon, McCray, Love) that OSU started looking around for players like Mitchell and Johnson.
Abdullah and cross were going to get the xarries anyways
Problem is that top recruits in Texas typically want to play on or against teams they know. Look at the state of Ohio. Most of those players would typically want to play for Ohio State, but Michigan can offer something extremely similar in terms of tradition, schedule, and participation in "The Game". Nebraska used to be able to offer big Texas and Oklahoma recruits games against teams like Texas and Oklahoma, but now they can't. They will still be able to recruit those areas, but it's just harder to get those recruits when you can't offer them similar experiences as other schools in Texas can offer. Along with that, they haven't been able to build the pipelines yet to do well in recruiting places like Ohio. In time they will improve, but it could be a rough transition.

OSU was focused on Anazalone and Jaylon Smith when the Ohio LBs were committing elsewhere, when they missed on those two, they widened their net. Love and McCray received offers after already committing, I believe.
AA seems like he was just a waste of time and looking like a bit of a headcase, Jaylon Smith looks like he's a guy that OSU will be sad to miss on in a few years. Then again, we're just now starting to see the talent that his 5-star brother had coming out of HS.
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
Rod Smith was a 5*?
Hmm. I remember him being one, but as I check it appears I was wrong. Well, all the same, doesn't really change the meaning. Rated 48th by 247 composite.
Damn, I had no idea he was that high.
Pelini is a d-bag.
After that crap he pulled with the kid who flipped to Auburn it's no surprise.
Pelini made the 2nd big strike on his career with that whole blow up at a recruit...The Nebraska fans were about ready to hang him last year, then off and on again this year. When his personality starts sending recruits the other way he won't be in Nebraska much longer, and honestly, his reputation as a defensive guy has taken major shots over the last two years as well, so he may or may not find work as a DC....
Bo has never recruited well. His best accomplishments came with Callahan's recruits (he was a damn good recruiter). His style is a lot like Coach Dantonio's at MSU.
Hope Heard lands on his feet..This kid was fun to watch in HS..especially the State Championship games
Maybe he needs to relax a bit. Hell during the Michigan game last week (meant season), the only time I have seen him coach in person, he melted down several times. The Nebraska fans around me were joking about how often he explodes and that he is going to die on the sidelines one day. (Not my opinion, I am just typing what I was told. )

Is it the media or does it seem like Pelini is just dying to get out of Lincoln. IIRC he's contacted other schools about openings? Is that right or was I catfished? If he leaves Neb, maybe he joins Urban in Cbus after he kicks Fickell to the curb
I hope not....he has done nothing to make me think he'd be an improvement....Nebraska's defense has been horrible last couple years and he's obviously not a great recruiter....so, I'd pass..
I have only been there twice, but in his defense the Omaha-Lincoln area is a tough sell. The weather is brutal and there is not a ton of things to do. The South et al is likely a much easier pitch.
'Bama pulled Trey Depriest from Ohio
There are many Ohio kids that go elsewhere, highly ranked Ohio Kids. I don't need to list all that have gone to Michigan, but some recent ones to OOS schools are Depriest/Bama, Davis/USC, Gibson/WVU...
Tom Osborne had no trouble putting very talented teams on the field in that climate. I really think Pelini may come off too forceful or something. Maybe wanting them to commit to them on the spot? who knows, but he doesn't have the respect of some of the recruits obviously. You can't act like a baby and be treated like a man.
USC also took Aundrey Walker out of Glenville, IIRC.
