Pretty well. Our big, public scrimmage is this saturday.
Fluker at rt has been getting praised like I've never seen from saban. Hes expected to be a top 10 pick in the draft, hope he plays that way. I do worry about the new center, since hes never done it before. However, jones had literally played all 5 ol spots during his time at bama. He has already graduated and is pretty much done with his masters degree. I thunk he will apply to become a rhodes scholar.
I'm hoping our qb continues to progress. Even if our defense isn't as good as last year, they will still be top 3 in nation.
Hey fellas, visiting from MSU 247. My brother is a member over here and mentioned this was a very interesting read, he was right. This is one of the most intriuing games of the season.
Quick question, hope its not too off topic. Alabama has a geographical advantage given it's souther persuasion but Michigan has a large and affluent alumni base that can obviously afford to travel and support the program. How does the fan split at the game shake out? With both teams losing key support pieces every aspect of the game must come into question. I think crowd support plays into this a little. What do you think?
I'm sure it'll be very close to half and half. Michigan sold out our allotment in something like 2 hours. It was ridiculous. We have a ton of people going. I know I have 5 seats and couldn't be more excited.
I expect both fanbases to be loud and loyal all game long.
Hey Ducksworth good to hear from you. I would agree. It's always the concern at a neutral site like this but if any two programs can pull off huge crowd support at a neutral site its michigan and alabama. Should be fun, good luck. Thanks for the hospitality boys. Go B1G.
so you were the reason I couldn't get tickets!!!! No in all seriousness, I don't think there will be much of a discrepancy.
Man I'm hoping to find tickets to this game later this summer. I'm hoping it's like a bowl game where people are all hung ho to go to it until it's time to start buying flights and getting hotels. Last year on other boards ticket exchanges, you could get Sugar Bowl tickets with ease. Praying that happens here too
Exactly, it'll be great to meet some Bama fans and interact with them. The game could get ugly, but I hope we put up a good fight.
Thanks for stopping by, feel free to visit whenever.
Bama won't have a public sale for games like this. They season ticket holders first options and it won't even get to the lower level season ticket guys. Most of the bama guys will be going stubhub or. similar. Bama travels pretty well but I'm expecting/hoping it's 50/50.
Bama outnumbered texas at the rose bowl. We even outnumbered fsu when we played in jacksonville a few years ago.
You have what appears to be five fifth-year seniors returning, so you need to count that 2008 megaclass of 32 to come up with an honest number. When you add in the 2008 class the difference swells to 18. Alabama will be benefiting from an extra recruiting class over Michigan, which had even gone through a head coaching change. In almost every bowl game the SEC competed in last year, the SEC team had a full recruiting class more than their opponent of players to have built the team from. Nick Saban had the luxury of whittling 137 signees from 2007-2011 to 85 to make his championship team last year.
Alabama has consistently signed 4-5 more players a year than Michigan, and every five years (the real timeframe for a college football player) that makes for an entire extra class. That is a big advantage.
If you feel that 5 fifth year seniors means we should count the entire class, then theres really nothing much I can say.
But lets look at that class anyway. We signed 31. 3 played baseball and never suited up at bama. 4 went juco and we resigned them later (which means youre counting them twice since they resigned in another class). Even more importantly, those juco guys only have 2 years of eligibility anyway). Bama signed one juco that class, t cody.
If you think us signing juco players is an advantage, then I may agree. We will find one our two every year to fill a need. But that guy won't count against schollies for four years.
The reason that bama is good is we had 6 first rounders in that 2008 class and that doesnt include 2nd younger t cody. Additionally, there are about 6 other guys from that class that well get drafted.
In fact over the last three years bama has signed 75 and michigan 72. Thats only one extra a year. But over those three years bama had signed 6 juco guys that have two years of eligibility. So you cut those 6 guys down to two year scholarships and we both signed a net 72
But I'll let it go, don't want to further ruin a good thread.
Other than denard and touissant, what are michigan's strengths
OL and back 7 on D
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
Also read that you guys have devleoped that third string QB into a challenge Gardner for the 2 spot. I forgot his name, my apologies. However, having a good option or two behind Drob can't hurt for this game. Alabama is replacing experience with talent, which is difficult, but they'll still hit.
Gardner is the clear #2, Bellomy is just developing into a solid option which gives us the opportunity to get Gardner and Denard on the field at the same time. Gardner is the 2nd best athlete on the team behind Denard and we're looking for ways to get him touches. I only expect Denard to run it 10-15 times against Bama, our ground game will rely on Touissant, who looks great this spring.
I'm hoping that our olb can grow quickly, super talented guys though. Mlb should be pretty good. Safeties will be good, 2 corner will be new. Hopefully aussie can do well at nt.
Russell Bellomy. He's looked very, very good, and I think that's part of the reason Devin Gardner has been working out at WR a lot. If Gardner was our only capable backup, no way in hell does he see the field as a WR.
who is playing outside? Depriest will start at Mike right? The new corners is really the only thing that would worry me over the course of the season but michigan will keep the ball on the ground alot in this game I think, which at least gives you the chance to hide a couple of new guys until they're dialed in.
I noticed that in the spring footage my brother sent me. They must plan on using him there because of the limited amount of footage they released. I felt like if it was for fun or just to get him on the field and decoy a little bit they'd have let some additional film slip out there. Probably looking too deep into it but I like Gardner. In spite of the fact I knew he wasn't headed to Sparty I followed him because he was the #1 dual threat QB and I'm a dude from the mitten so I'll root for one of mine even if they end up at michigan.
Yeah, Gardner looks bigger, faster and he can really sling it. I'm hoping that he gets his medical redshirt for his freshman year, so he'll have 2 full years as the starter. I try not to look too much into the videos that get released because they only release what they want people to see.
he seems like a good kid too. At any rate, should be a good game. Looking forward to it. Couldn't believe the lack of brush fire on this thread given these two passionate fan bases. Michigan playing Alabama is fun for college football, period.
I think this thread will pick up as it gets closer to gameday, right now most of our fans are talking about recruiting and spring football. How has MSU looked so far? Do you think you'll beat Boise?
Pretty sure Boise is replacing like 20 starters
Ya but you have to imagine that Peterson will have them ready, even if they don't win, they should put up a good fight.
Well I don't want to get lit up for taking the thread off topic as a guest visiting from msu 247 but since you asked. Biggest question is at QB in my opinion. Given the fact that Maxwell has the measureables and his invite to Elite 11 as a senior he should be alright. He sat behind the captain long enough to dial it in so we'll see there. We only lost a couple of pieces on the D so I feel pretty good there and alot of talented athletic young guys are making a push so we're excited to see a few guys like Taiwan Jones and Darien Harris from Dematha. The running backs are looking good and the OL should be much better with everyone returning from injuries. Receiver is looking a little thin in spite of taking 1,500 of them last year. We need some young guys to step in and if Arnett's hardship waiver is granted that'll be a huge boost. Spring game should be fun. Looking forward to finally get a look at Connor Cook get work with the 2's given he was invited to Elite 11 as well. We'll see how it shakes out.
You don't have to worry about getting slammed, as long as you're respectful here then you'll get treated with respect. Any surprise names stepping up so far?
