Revisionist history and im not quite sure where it comes from.
Grew up an MSU fan, went to FHH where they all were MSU fans(Funchess and Ojemudia included, somewhere/somehow the story changed from UM trying to make up ground with him to UM passing on him around the time Funchess and Ojemudia committed. True, UM asked to see him make progress in the classroom but UM still recruited and offered AB. AB just wanted to be at MSU all along and that's why instead of putting in some summer time (2011) or even the fall semester and saying "look here UM coaches, I raised my GPA", instead he committed early to MSU. Because that's what he wanted all along. You can't win every recruiting battle, and good for Burbridge for qualifying. Should be a big time player for MSU

Burbridge qualified; Shawn Conway didn't, but we still honored his scholarship until he didn't pass clearinghouse. It would have been easy for us to do that with Burbridge; however, we didn't.
Hindsight is 20/20, but we should have offered early, and pursued him along with Ojemudia and Funchess. Not pursuing him harder was a mistake.
2 completely different situations. They pursued Burbridge hard they just didn't get him(Again he wanted MSU), and the Conway situation is not even comparable. Different coaching staffs and Conway has/had a criminal record... Conway should have never been pursued period and I don't believe Hoke and his staff had any contact with him once they took over in January.
Believe it or not, there are some people are born into toxic environments and/or caught up in circumstances that they can't control. Not understanding that is an example of classism.

Frankly, I'm glad we passed on Burbridge and Conway. And that's not 'classism'. It's holding ourselves to a higher standard. I'm not saying they aren't talented and wouldn't have helped our team. But I expect Michigan men to good athletes, good students and good citizens. Leaders and Best....remember?
I think the more questionable recruits you take, the more chances you have at blemishing the reputation of the University. IE Urban Meyer's 5 years at Florida yielding 40 arrests. I for one, don't want Hoke taking our school down that path even if it costs us a Big Ten or Nat'l Championship.

Yes we can... yes we can... yes we can
Welcome and .
HAHAHA... Oh, I completely understand as my grandmother still resides in Detroit and my father came from a broken home/toxic environment in Detroit. Conway just has a questionable record, questionable grades, and I don't believe he is a Michigan caliber talent as a receiver. It has nothing to do with "classism."
Saying, "well, he didn't pass clearinghouse," is one thing, but what you're doing is labeling a person as a 'less-than-desirable' (not "a leader" or "the best") because of their circumstance, which is an entirely different behavior. This is the same behavior as labeling a person as a less-than-desirable based on race, sexual orientation, or age. Plain and simple, labeling people is wrong.
Honestly, I'm not sure what your trips to Detroit to visit your grandparents have to do with anything. Please explain how this limited experience with socioeconomic struggle qualifies you to pass judgement on character.
I lived their you for years. I know what it's like to live in the "socioeconomic struggle", and im not judging his character(I don't know him) im just saying he has a questionable history and he does, something that he has readily admitted before.
EDIT: No need for name-calling. Chill, this is your warning.

Jesus SE, you are going overboard with this. smh
That's not my point. You don't know him, (and regardless of what you've been through) you don't know his struggle, and shouldn't be passing judgement on him. By saying he had a "questionable record," you're simply repeating overly-harsh words and extending the classist sentiment that he had to fight against while attending school at Seaholm.
If you don't think a single current player goofed off in high school, skipped classes, or had disciplinary action taking against them, then you're mistaken. Yet, for some reason our fanbase wants to act like Shawn Conway isn't a Wolverine for some reason other than not passing clearinghouse. That's all it was, he didn't pass clearinghouse.

I am sure he appreciates the advice, dad, but you are reading way to much into this.
I know you think racism and homophobia are problems, and I respect that, but discriminatory classist-thought is still mainstream-thought (especially at UofM). It's best to nip it in the bud.

So much this.
Nip it in the bud when it is presented, not when you read into it.
Of course he goofed off in high school and im not holding that against him or any player for that, lots of people did(I did as well I made A LOT of dumb choices back then. Hell, probably more so then most). Conway isn't a wolverine for the reasons I listed questionable grades, questionable record(Fair or not), and because he is not a Michigan caliber talent at receiver. If he had met the above criteria Michigan would have stuck with him and found a way to make things workout for him(Like they did with a guy like Marquis Slocum) by making him go the prep school route where the credits would transfer over instead they seized all contact with Conway and he went to some JUCO in California or Arizona. Like the other poster said, I think your reading way to much what I have said in my previous posts.
think its very likely he will see some time as a receiving TE.
Different coach, but you just keep thinking that.
Tough luck for this kid. I heard meniscus, but that is just what I heard through a state fan, nothing concrete
