6'7" 2014 PG/SG AJ Turner of Warren (MI) De La Salle just texted me that he will be visiting Michigan tomorrow for the Northwestern game. He is one of the players the Michigan staff is heavily evaluating right now. I'll have more from him after the visit.

Thanks Mark! Looks like a big time prospect!
I love it when we get basketball recruiting updates.
And wow! A 6'7 PG?

What do you think of his highlights, Mark?
Turner isn't actually in anyone's top 100 yet, but that won't last for long. Motivated to prove he is one of the top guards in the country the Warren DeLaSalle point guard poured in 35 vs. 4-star, Top 100 G Drake Harris (#43 MaxPreps and #52 Rivals), who scored 19, in a thrilling double overtime win on 12/14/12. Turner and Harris checked each other for much of the night.

Turner has a number of schools looking at him including Arizona State, UMass, Toledo, EMU, Oakland, Penn, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Iowa, Providence and DePaul
Sparty had a 6'9" PG back in the day...he was pretty good too.
Yep, and personally I love taller PGs. But you don't really see it anymore. The tallest one I've seen in a good while is Michael Carter-Williams from Syracuse, and he is 6'6.
I've actually been meaning to ask you guys this, what do you guy want me to do for basketball coverage?
I'm in good contact with all the basketball commits (including Hatch, but he wants me to keep most stuff off the record and any info has to be reviewed by PR people with him) and most of Michigan's top recruits. I could do a post every other week with tidbits on prospects and only make threads when something more newsy is happening, like a prospect visiting Michigan. Or I can make separate more extensive updates on players whenever time permits. I'm really open to all requests for my coverage of it.
I'm a big fan of his upside, but I don't see him as a point guard in college. He could be a lethal wing player though.
As I've mentioned before I go to Grand Rapids Catholic Central and I talked to a lot of kids on the team after they played De La Salle in a Christmas tournament and most said he was the best player they've played all year. They've faced numerous D1 recruits, such as Drake Harris, so that was really saying something.
I'm fine with whatever! It would be awesome if you gave updates for when prospects were visiting Michigan, but on the other hand, I would love some as you said "extensive" updates on players too. Just whatever you feel like doing, I guess.
If you could get in touch with Devin Booker, I would love that. I want to see him in our class really bad.

That sounds round about perfect to me.
Also, not asking for any real info, but is Hatch doing alright?
I think Turner would do better as a SG who just happens to be a really good passer. I didn't see enough in that video to convince me that he could play PG for Michigan at a high enough level. However, he is only a junior so he still has a lot of time to develop.
I see what you did there. +1
Devin is tough to get a hold of, but in the meantime, I'll leave you with his most recent tweet...
Walton doing work.
With all this success this year I'm craving a 2014 commit. Sucked that KBD committed to the Buckeyes but we have plenty of options. Ready for someone to be our lead 14 hoops recruiter.
Yep and it was reported that head to head against Drake, AJ dominated the matchup....who knows, this game may have been the reason why Drake concluded that football was going to be his best sport down the road.
We had one in the early 90s too
Lebron James was the PG for his high school team
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
Wow. Really like this kid. How many are we expected to have room for in 2014? Can we fit him in?
Probably depends on how many of Burke/Hardaway/Robinson go pro.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we are at 12 now and can have 13 max. Burke, Hardaway, Vogrich and McLimans will be gone after this year, but we have Irvin, Walton and Donnal coming in. That will drop us to 11 for 2013-14. Then, after next season, Morgan will be done and if GRIII and McGary also leave, I guess we should be able to take up to 5 in the 2014 class ... Hatch and 4 more. So, I'm worrying about nothing. Nvm.

I love the tall PGs. Carter-Williams is just lethal when he's on, and there's not a PG in the country that can match up with him. He also gets a good portion of his rebounds off long bounces because he's just so much longer than any college PG he goes up against.
