Hey, just a friendly debate. No hard feelings. After the U-A practices, I have no doubt that Kuglers going to be a very solid player at Michigan for multiple seasons, which is what I said in the practice thread. I think very highly of Kugler as a player and I know that our staff does as well.
Is Ducksworth right about the drop or did he rise 60 spots? Thanks and sorry if I sound like an ass in my comments but its hard to understand how all the praise could have led to a drop.
I already said I was wrong, that I had looked at the wrong numbers. I commented "nope, sorry, I was looking at the wrong numbers" and I edited my post.
You guys are really doing a great job, adding tremendous and the influx of info lately is outstanding. Thank you.
He moved up.
Honestly, I don't have a huge problem with any of the moves. Shane was going to drop, and that is fine...I do question why some of the other QBs like Trubisky were ranked higher. But whatever.
When 247 does their "2013 reevaluation thread" 4 years down the road, they'll say they were wrong to drop Morris. Shane has all the tools, he just needs to work out a couple kinks, and sitting behind Gardner and learning from him and the staff will work them out.
He has the tools, but a lot more than "a couple kinks" to work out.
He needs to work on his touch pass, and he really needs to learn how to go through all his reads if his first option isn't there. I guess those things are more than just kinks, but he has lots of time to work on it. He'll be fine.
If he can be patient, both in development and on the field, he should be fine.
God help us if Gardner misses any relevant snaps next year, though.
Maybe...but this is all guess work, and I know these services are trying to predict future success...but that is baloney. Mostly they are looking at the best players at this moment in time, and ranking them.
they still have Lewis a 90 and out of their 247. I thought I read somewhere that he was gonna get a bump up.

They did in the Army wrapup report
Shane does very well at all the camps last summer. His rating went up. He gets mono in the fall, and misses over half his senior season. He plays in Jan.-13 game, does poorly, and has rating plummet.
Unclear on the logic with this one. While rankings I take with a 'grain of salt', this one puzzles me.

I was more confused on the Poggi no movement. I thought he was as impressive as any DL in the UA game outside of Nkemdiche. Any insight as to why he couldn't move up? Are the Top 10 DT's having higher upside, or just that good?
Trubisky absolutely dominated some of the best hs teams in Ohio all year. Trubisky single handedly destroyed the same St. Ignatius team crushed Shane's team and I don't say that as a knock to Morris. I was bummed when OSU didn't offer him. To me it was the first time the Schollie reduction really hurt. NC stole a stud here.
I saw him in one game. He is a solid QB, but I didn't think he was that great. I am not surprised Urban took a pass on him, frankly. But, that is what this game is all about, isn't it?
Poggi stood out all week at the UA game, very surprised he didn't move up.
Also Derrick Green got a good bump, but he's a top 50 kid IMO.
Lewis and Butt should be in the top 247 as well, but what can ya do.
When I look at some of these rankings in the top 50, I get the feel that 247 is almost trying to get extra publicity by giving ballsy rankings. I mean, just look at some of their top prospects and look at the composite rankings below, it's just mind boggling.
I can understand that you think a certain player might be better than others think, but it's highly questionable when you rank a kid at #2 overall when the three other major recruiting industries barely have the kid as a top 100 player.
It's all about web traffic. No one else has 2014 prospects ranked yet. Why? Because it's pointless, well, unless the point is to generate web traffic. And then they move them up and down almost weekly and everyone jumps online to cheer or complain with every move. How could LSU have the #8 class a week ago and move up to #4 today simply because they changed player rankings for the 30th time? At a minimum, it makes all the earlier rankings appear worthless. Why even bother tracking 247's rankings until the very end because the early rankings are worthless. Garbage in, garbage out.
My post was no way questioning the credibility of the information provided by 247sports by the way, I love this place and most of the people that post here. All I'm questioning is the motive behind the national rankings and their evaluation process.
I also do not like how almost all are recruits dropped. Oh well. Hopefully they prove 247 wrong and all go pro. Personally I believe our class has guys good enough to do just that with hard work and coaching. Rankings on most these kids are wrong on almost every site. For every guy out there like Clowney ie.. a sure thing there are guys like Justin Blackmon and RG3. So, although I'm disappointed in the 247's finale evaluations of our recruits I will cut them some slack.
By the way, My daughters magic 8 ball said "Outlook good" for Michigan having the best class.
As a Michigan fan, i don't like where they placed Morris, but to be fair Morris, did have a pretty shaky season and some of that is do to Mono, but as of right now i can understand it. I still think he will be a stud in a few years.
There were some great Michigan drops and Ohio jumps in there. Hilarious.
