He's just opening things back up and Bama just offered. I expect all of the major programs will be coming after him.
I think we have as good of a chance as anyone right now, but it's still early and he hasn't really said much recently.
Top group but anything can happen his recruitment really heats up IMO.
Thanks guys. I never like putting too much importance on any one individual recruit, but I consider this kid a must get. He's the big time receiver we need, and he's in-state. I think this will be a very interesting and entertaining recruitment.
I propose Nick Watkins for top group, along with maybe Elijah Hood, although I dont have VIP so someone please correct me if need be.
Nick Watkins probably belongs in the lower tier that I proposed. He definitely has interest, but his recruitment is pretty wide open at this point imo.
As for Hood, it pains me to say this (I loooooooooooooove Hood's tape), but I don't believe he belongs in any of the tiers just yet. I don't think he was thinking about us much at all before the visit/offer last week, so I want to see him put us in a top 10 sort of list to a non-M reporter before I consider his interest that solid. I definitely think we have a shot at him though...it's clear that his visit with Hoke went well and his interest in Notre Dame and Ohio State says he's willing to come to the Midwest.
Agree with you on Devers have heard he's not that impressive.
McDermott is all Cane unless they get hammered. ND is #2 and don't think there's anyone else in it for the kid. Miami site ran article on him 2/3 weeks ago.
He's going to Miami but this is not true at all.
K.C. McDermott has established himself as one of the top overall prospects in the country. Click inside for the latest on Michigans chances with the 2014 offensive tackle.
I think Harris's recruitment is going to be the one in this cycle that makes the fickle fans tear their hair out. It might be a crazy one.
I'm gonna add Luatua to the top group.
As far as Nick Watkins. He's all Bama at this point.
That article is 27 days old. Miami article was around 8-12 days ago.
What about for the capricious fans?
Orlando Brown Jr. Named us to an early/preliminary top 8 today
So your saying we have a 12.5% chance??
How about a breakdown by position for this class of presumably 18-20?
QB: 1 (Cornwell)
OL: 3-4 (Doles, Bars, Cole, Prince)
TE: 1-2 (Weishar, Helm)
WR: 2 (Harris, Holmes)
RB: 1-2 (Hillman, Ballage)
DL: 4 (McDowell, Hand, Mone, Marshall)
LB: 2 (Ferns, Thrift)
DB: 3-4 (Westphal, Peppers, Blanding, Nicholson)
K/P: 1 (McGrath)

I would take 1 RB and 3 WR personally with Weber and Harris in 2015.
I'm always wary of passing up someone now based on the expectation you are going to get someone else/better later. 2015 is a long way off.

So am I, so we can also look at getting Deveon Smith and Derrick Green in 2013.
I would start at 1 RB and 2 WR, and then gauge needs during the 2013 season. If, god forbid, neither Smith nor Green looks good, then we'll need another RB. If they look ok, then we should go for another WR.
I think we end up going with 1 RB, 3 WR. WR is definitely our weak spot, so I want us to have as many chances of a good WR panning out as possible.
With all the quality WR we're in on, I want to take 3 and wouldn't at all mind going to 4.
Ward had his scholarship pulled and is no longer being recruited by the Michigan staff. He will not be a part of this class.
I actually think Michigan has a pretty good shot at Hand . He really likes our staff and has said (I don't remember where I read it) that VT and Michigan probably lead right now. Add to that our superior engineering program and the fact that we're just behind his top school, which he has visited several times, and I tend to think that with a visit or two (or three) to campus, Michigan could very easily catch up to if not pass VT.
Hand has never named a leader. That was speculation by JC, Steve & Co.
He just named an updated top 5 of Bama, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina, and VT
