Thanks. Never thought of it this way. +1
They're not getting Harris. He's expected to commit to A&M relatively soon.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
It's not a coincidence that Urban Meyer literally pulled every single one of our 2012 decommits after the scandal, but was unable to pull even a single decommit after the sanctions were announced. Also not a coincidence that guys like Noah Spence called Meyer "family" after one reported phone call.
The benefit of Urban Meyer is that he's everywhere at once in recruiting. He actually seems to lose out on a fairly large number of top targets and early offers. But he's in on so many prospects that the dropoff from Plan A to Plan B isn't very large.
Helps that he wins, too. I do wonder how their recruiting momentum might shift if they don't win a MNC this year. That's really the only thing they're selling.
Can't forget about Ricardo Miller.
I tend to agree on the winning thing. What happens this year, for example, if OSU goes 9-3? Or even goes 10-2 but loses the BTCCG and ends up in the Capital One Bowl? Does that make it much harder for Urbie to recruit based primarily on "look at my rings"?
i have only really been big into recruiting for about a year now, did Ricardo Miller try to recruit as well?
It also helped that first cycle that OSU was allowed to have two coaching staffs. He was hired end of Nov, and the bowl game wasn't until January. It's a little different when a guy is hired that early, then gets a whole freaking month to recruit without worrying about the current team. Would he have been able to show up to everything Spence if he had to coach his team? Probably not. It was ridiculous that was allowed. It's not like most coaching hires when you can have two 'staffs' for like a week ala UM hiring RR.
If Meyer really does have a strategy that relies on decommits and NSD hat dances, it works for me.
That sorta recruiting just begs for chemistry and discipline issues (a fairly common for Urban at UF, IIRC).
Miller was the first guy I can remember the was recruiting all over twitter. He was the first commit in that class, and consider a 'big get', so he tried to convince everyone to come.
Good call. And that's a big reason I'm not worried if their recruiting classes have been rated slightly higher than ours in the past few years. They've already lost two members of the 2012 class. I expect that to become a trend and for it to continue. I also expect Hoke's commits to have a very low attrition rate because the kid's character is just as important as athletic ability.

I don't think so, I haven't heard anything. You can be damn sure that if he visited OSU we'd have trolls out the wazoo over here talking about it.
Where'd you hear this?
His profile time line 247.
Those are often put up when scheduled, sometimes weeks in advance. So probably not.
He had those scheduled and 247 just didn't update his profile to remove those.
Why do we have to discuss osu at all.....
He was a 5* WR that got too big and thick and therefore too slow, unfortunately not big and thick enough to be an awesome TE.
He fell pretty hard in the rankings toward the end of the cycle. But yeah, disappointing compared to his ranking at the time of commitment...
Read on SI that Hand is visiting Auburn this weekend. Ho Hum.
Sorry...didn't see the thread below.

Had to look up that twitter page to see who it was. It's Juwann Bushell-Beatty for those who don't know and his name on Twitter is "JuJu" . Could you imagine a JuJu being on the field at all times? (Smith+JBB)?
