Really? Unclear on the logic with that one.
“Those who stay will be champions”
― Bo Schembechler
As soon as Cornwell gets his offer I fully expect to be his #1 and him to commit very early. Just my IMO
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
I think we will be his #1, and he does want to commit early, so hopefully it'll be to us.
Needs to take is time....and once he is ready after taking all of his visits, then commit. A decommitment is more detrimental down the road
Take all his visits and he isnt coming here unless the coaches want two qbs. No way the coaches wait until dec/jan to get a qb, other offers will go out before then.
I believe it has been said that Cornwell wants to commit "soon".... I've hard and feel that means by atleast the summer. Others have said within a month.
Well, we now have a QB commit.
Does Sparty approve?. I hope so, they are a national recruiting power...
awink is going to flip out that it's not cornwell
More people then him will
I have to admit I am a little disappointed, but in the coaches we trust.
I am as well. I think that Cornwell is better. I trust in the coaches though, but feel like it's almost a copout. Welcome speight!!!!
While sample size is very small, the coaches haven't won me over on QB evaluation so far. Bellomy is just a head-scratcher.
Me too. I only briefly watched his highlights, but I didn't come away that impressed. Lacked a strong arm to me. I'll re-watch them when I get home from school.
The coaches view him as one of the top 3 QBs in the country.
I may disagree, but it's always great to get a plan A recruit and not have to settle for lower options.
Not sure you can use bellomy. The coaches were hired in jan and had to find a QB quickly before that signing day in feb.
This! They did the best they could do with the time they had. Bellomy is nothing more than depth for the position. Hopefully he improves greatly this spring and next fall.
An opposing coach that coached against Hackenburg and Speight this year said Speight 'could be better' at the same stages.
Not to nitpick, I just think Speight is getting a raw deal in the reaction by our fanbase. Too many star gazers. Speight is accurate, something I would want after recruiting a huge armed kid with a few potential accuracy issues.
It's not the offer to Bellomy; I completely understand that given the time frame. It's the fact that they watched Bellomy in practice for a year and a half and came to the conclusion 'yep, he's ready to step in a number 2.' That couldn't have been more wrong. And the we see the next week that Devin is leaps and bounds more dangerous. It's THAT evaluation skills that has me a little worried. But again, small sample sizes and all.
Again, must trust in the coaches.
As for Bellomy, I think people are being too harsh. We will see if he works himself into being a usable quarterback. The Nebraska game I think is more on the coaches failure than on Bellomy.
LoL, i knew Borges would screw up the qb evaluations.
Look at the post i made a week ago, Borges CAN NOT evaulate qb's.
Michael Ferns @M_Ferns10
@WiltonSpeight welcome to the class man, gotta shoot me your number in a DM. We still have a lot of recruiting to do. #GoBlue
Ive seen breakdowns of all the qbs borges has brought in over the years at different schools and it is worrisome. Pretty much a list of busts.
You aren't looking at the complete picture. The coaches wanted the best 11 on the field. Since devin wouldn't started at QB they put him at WR to give denard another weapon. You can't take snaps at WR and QB so bellomy was the backup. Devin, talent wise was always the 2nd best QB on the roster talent wise it just so happen that for the Nebraska game bellomy was the backup and got thrown into the fire.
Love this. Get to work boys!
