You have to remember he probably doesn't take the hardest classes either. He isn't a dumb kid by any means, but he probably isn't Vandy quality, although they would most likely take him based on his football talent and respectable GPA.
The test scores show whether you are good at making quick decisions under pressure and are the best way to compare kids because not all high school curriculums are as rigorous as others.
I think the average for all students who take the ACT is a 17, but keep in mind that the average student doesn't go to a university. The average for students who actually continue their education is probably very close to your 21 number.

Some people just aren't good at standardized tests, it's not that rare. Also, McQuay knows he has a killer GPA and knows he is one of the most highly recruited football players in the country...in those circumstances, maybe he decided to just keep his focus on his schoolwork and not put any effort into prepping for the ACT. Analogizing to your classmates doesn't make a whole lot of sense, McQuay has a completely different set of circumstances from the average AP student
I had a 31 on my ACT , a 1950 on my SAT and a 2.83 GPA . . . But I definitely was trying thank you very much !
So quick question . .
It seems like we're taking four more guys . . At the risk of oversimplifying , it seems like those last 4 spots were designated as :
OL - Skipper/Samuelson/Rogers/Hunt/Jones-Smith
DB - McQuay/Dawson/Crawford
LB - Ball
BPA - Green/Bostwick
. . .It seems like they are only going for Ball at LB right now . . Why do you think there hasn't been more of an effort to snake-oil a few LB recruits ? Besides the offers to Rechske ( whom they knew would be a long-shot) , Ball and Moss , doesn't seem like they are overly eager to fill that LB spot. Contrast that with how they were shooting offers out left and right for the OL spot. Does this mean the projected attrition at LB , may not actually be forthcoming ? Just curious . .
LB recruiting classes have been loaded the last 2 years, and young players like Morgan and Ryan are still around. O-Line was weak and lacked depth so they're definitely wanting another O-Linemen, and just aren't in a hurry to pick up any LB.
I'm lost on what ther projected attrition was at LB though aside from the obvious players graduating.
Green has also listed us as his leader twice now, was a little confused on what BPA meant, Bonus Player Added?

BPA == Best Player Available
For LBs, my take on it is that they had to burn almost everyone's redshirt this year which gives a little cause for concern in a few seasons.
Jake Ryan = will be a RS Jr, so leaving for the NFL isn't totally out of the question if he has another monster season since he could graduate.
Desmond Morgan = 2 years left
Bolden / Ross = 3 years left, look like starter material.
Jenkins Stone = 3 years left, played mainly special teams, so unclear if he's starter material.
Ringer / Poole = injured and haven't seen the field, so unproven.
So worst case scenario here is that start of 2014 season gives us 3 starter types (Morgan / Ross / Bolden) and a bunch of question marks after that. And if guys like Ringer / Poole don't get healthy, there is only enough depth for a 2-deep. So they might just be thinking if they can get a LB they really like at this point, it would be safer for future depth. When the coaches originally slated 2 spots, it was before the season and they hadn't seen what the 4 incoming freshman could do, didn't know how Poole would recover, and didn't know Jake Ryan would have as big of a year as he did.
Ah, Best Player Available... I was in the ballpark at least lol.
I think Ryan will stay personally, he is a fantastic player but doesn't appear to have that elite athleticism the NFL overvalues. And I think the lack of interest in more LB's is a good sign w/ what the coaches seen out of the Freshman. They seem content with trying for Ball at this point, rather than open up recruitment of LB's that had Michigan high on their board earlier. I'd rather take a shot at a WR/DB athlete than an LB w/ that spot if talent is similar.
Saw on twitter yesterday that we have a new 2013 OL target - Jackson Keeler OT (6' 7" 290 lbs) who is currently committed to Wisconsin. He's rated as a 3-star but apparently has a 5-star offer sheet.
#Wisconsin commit Jackson Keeler has added offers from #Michigan #Spartans #Sooners #OKState #Oregon among others http://oregon.247sports.com/Article/Wisconsin-commit-Jackson-Keeler-has-added-eight-BCS-offers-108909 …

That makes sense . . . But then does that mean RJS is gonna play SLB ? I think I had read either here or somewhere else that he wanted to play only Mike or Will (can someone please confirm or refute that ?)
In 2013 , we have Ryan and Gordon at the SLB , but it's conceivable that both will be gone in 2014 . . .Who's next in line to replace them ? Would that be McCray?
Heat game with the bros! @S_Morris12 @ScootsyQ @MarcusBeeezy @the_hank_poggi @kugleybear57
Sooo just clarification for my non-twitter self. Cameron Hunt is watching the Heat game with Shane Morris, Scott Quesseberry, Marcus Baugh, Henry Poggi, and Patrick Kugler?
Yuppers. You need to get into 2013 bro. Twitter is the shiznit
I gotta agree with this. I resisted Twitter at first, but it's the best place for information.
Yes RJS will not play slb. And im not convinced cam will even be back next year. Sam is looking a little thin, maybe Ringer will play there.
I was impressed with Ringer in the spring game. I wouldn't mind seeing him in there.
"Those Who Stay...Will be Champions"
I talked with Keeler yesterday. He grew up a Michigan fan and visited but didn't receive an offer. He was hoping for one but our O-Line filled up so fast he never got the chance. Now he has an offer and wants to find the best option for himself.
Kinda/Sorta Michigan related but Joe Mathis is finally committing this weekend.
He'll probably commit next weekend too.
hes mr comitment
Is that 3rd recruit going to come in 2012 or 2013 ?. It's still 2012 in the central, pacific & hawaian time zones...
Yep, still only 7:21 here!
